I heard somewhere that they told Ken to lose on purpose. The question was pretty simple and looking at his answer, it does seem as if he didn't try at all and just said some random answer.
First of all, rigging a game or quiz show is a federal offense. Do you think the producers want to go to jail and repeat what happened in the 50s? I think not.
Besides, Ken was
helping the ratings immensely. J! beat Wheel a couple weeks during his reign.
Ken did not lose on purpose. He said Nancy played a better game than him. It was simply the fatigue and the DDs he got wrong. If he wanted to leave, he could have just retired. There is a retirement clause in the contract you have to sign. Besides, why would he leave? He was happy, he had fun, he was winning lots of money. It wouldn't make sense.
