I have to say the title of this topic made me twitch. =P
In general, when I see "sence" or "loose" instead of "lose", "there" instead of "their", etc, I twitch. Then I look to see who wrote it, and if English is likely to be their first language. If not, I'm not as bothered - I know English isn't an easy language to learn, and it is a mistake that makes sense, when you think about it.
(I'm guilty of rewriting sentences to avoid words too. =P)
Ditto on all counts. When I
first saw the thread, before even clicking it to see what it was about, my first instinct was the edit the title to it's proper spelling, because it just gets under my skin.
I also hate to see the word "marshmellow". There are no Es in
marshmallow. It's a lot less bothersome to see these sorts of misspellings in just random posts, it's when I see professional websites making such mistakes. They spend all this time and (often) money to create these lovely websites, and then make careless misspellings.
