Did anyone else notice that Sawyer was reading a Wrinkle In Time...may this have something to do with the island? The creators of Lost did say everyprop has a special role in the plot!

I didn't really look. I just assumed he was reading Watership Down, because I think that's what he was reading in a previous episode. So I just thought he was still reading that one.

I remember seeing the tv movie of it last year. It was weird. That creepy boy from The Ring played Charles in it.

The three Mrs. W's transport the children to Camazotz and instruct them to remain always in each other's company while on their quest for Mr. Murry. On Camazotz, all objects and places appear exactly alike because the whole planet must conform to the terrifying rhythmic pulsation of IT, a giant disembodied brain. Charles Wallace tries to fight IT with his exceptional intelligence but is overpowered by the evil and becomes a robot-like creature mouthing the words with which IT infuses him. Under the control of IT, Charles leads Meg and Calvin to Mr. Murry and together they confront IT. However, they, too, are unable to withstand IT's power; they escape only at the last minute, when Mr. Murry appears and seizes Meg and Calvin, "tessering" away with them (traveling via another tesseract) to a gray planet called Ixchel inhabited by tall, furry beasts who care for the travelers. Charles Wallace remains possessed by IT, a prisoner of Camazotz.
On Planet Ixchel the three Mrs. W's appear once again, and Meg realizes that she must travel alone back to Camazotz to rescue her brother. Mrs. Which tells her that she has one thing that IT does not have, and this will be her weapon against the evil. However, Meg must discover this weapon for herself. When standing in the presence of IT, Meg realizes what this is: her ability to love. Thus, by concentrating on her love for Charles Wallace, she is able to restore him to his true identity. Meg releases Charles from IT's clutches and tessers with him through time and space, landing in her twin brothers' vegetable garden on Earth, where her father and Calvin stand waiting. The family joyously reunites, and the Mrs. W's visit the happy scene en route to further travels.

I just finished reading Watership Down

As simple as I can make it, it's about Two rabbits who are brothers. One is psychic and he has a "vision" of "Bad things" that will happen to their current Warren (place where a group of rabbits live)

They try to warn the "Chief Rabbit" but to no avail. They get a small ban of rabbits who believe them and they take off to a "Safe Place" that the psychic rabbit had a vision of.

Along they way they have to cross a river, meet up with some rabbits who don't act like normal rabbits due to a farmer feeding and killing them. They eventually come to their safe place in the mountains, but there are no females among them.

They make friends with a Sea Gull, and the Sea Gull tells them were another Warren is, and that it is over crowded. They send a few rabbits there and it's awhile before they get back. That warren is ran by for lack of better terms a control freak Nazi of a rabbit.

They send one rabbit back to infiltrate that Warren raise in rank and get females to follow him out. There is a big fight, and they get away by floating down a river in a boat.

Eventually the crazy rabbit chief comes after them, there is a fight and they somehow get a dog to help run the other rabbits off.

In the end the Crazy Rabbit is never found, and both warrens live peacefully.

Keep in mind I really over simplified the whole book, it's really a great read. The rabbits have a history and love to tell stories about their "great rabbit"

I really don't watch Lost or I might be able to tell you how it connects better.

Thx ladynight, thats pretty much what watership down is about.

How it realates to lost....hm...maybe Walt will end up seeing danger and then they will move camps but then all the females will die so all the men go looking for hte 'Other' women and...I'll stop my ranting

Watership Down is my favourite book ever. I was quite ecstatic when I first saw Sawyer with it.
I had to read it for school, and one thing we discussed was how the four warrens in the book (Sandleford, Cowslip's, Efrafa, and Watership) are each four different kinds of governments. I remember Efrafa was described as a totaltarianistic dictatorship, whereas, Watership was a democracy.

**thinks** Maybe we should be relating the show's characters to the book charachters?

That was cool until I got to the part where Meg saves the world with love. That was just cheesy.

I want an epic intergalactic fight scene, goshdarnit!

We had episode #18 last week, but we're about to have 6 weeks of repeats (for some unknown reason), which should help close the gap.

By the way? Do you read CleoLinda's recaps? (I can't help myself, I have to ask everyone)
