For those topics one could describe as the forum equivalent of a twinkie. Word games, forum contests and giveaways are all the rage here.

I say choose words which can be easily manipulated into other words. Words like 'speak' and such will do. We should all compile a list of words as we go along. When we decide on the final 15 words, someone should send it in.
I am saying 'speak' is a good word to use.

Heh, I just sent a list with a few words that can be made into a ton of others, =D I was thinking to both make them practical for sentence use and also make them so they can be unscrambled to make many other words.
EDIT - Sent to Ixistant and TDG that is
Oh yeah, I forgot about the word "masters" I guess try to fit that in there if you can. :\

So have we decided on a list yet?
Try photosynthesis, lots of words can be made from that... well, not really, but I cant think of anything...
Erm.. What about transforming?

Well, we have a list started. We're still waiting for TDG, but will finish it if we run low on time. The list is partially based on words that can make other words, but Ixistant also came up with another idea. Don't worry, the list will be sent though.
EDIT - List sent. =D The words are interesting to say the least, but hopefully they don't work against us.

Just a reminder, nothing significant happens in the game today, as the second part of the challenge is posted tomorrow (I hate getting off schedule).

“Now that I have received your fifteen words, the challenge can really begin. I want each side to craft the best poem they can - it can be about anything. But the catch is, it can only use the chosen fifteen words, and they may not be altered in any way, be it past tense or even plural.”
“The best poem,” Drew ends, “Will win.”

So the words we sent you can now be put out in the open and we can start crafting a poem?

Wow...this is going to be hard...VERY Hard.
As in...our words are...well...we're going to have a hard time making a poem out of them
Sat Mar 12, 2005 5:24 am
Uh oh...
Anywho, it would help if we have the whole list of words...
Sat Mar 12, 2005 5:42 am
I don't know which words were submitted but heres the mail I got while I was not at home
...it seems that we are going random rather than going after it any certain way. We figure there's the possibility of switching the words around. These are the words that Ixistant and I have come up with so far:
Cholerically
Equilibrium
Canterbury
Schorlaceous
Purple
Darmstadtium
Welfare
Canine
Yeoman
Persephone

Definately so. Depending on the word list, which I'm actually afraid to see, this is gonna be butt loads of fun.
Sat Mar 12, 2005 6:40 am
Um... uh... crap. I suppose I should post the rest of the words, just a sec. -_-
Choleric
Equilibrium
Canterbury
Schorlaceous
Watermelon
Darmstadtium
Welfare
Canine
Yeoman
Persephone
Masters
Acanthocephalan
Mitochondrion
Mizzenmast
Sulfanilamide
Um... yeah. This should be interesting. >_>

Bleaurk, I dont even know what half these words mean! >.>
Sat Mar 12, 2005 7:04 am
Heh, don't worry, a dictionary can be your best friend.

If we can make a poem out of these words (I'd think if we could, it would HAVE to be decent), we'll probably have it in the bag. I do hope that he doesn't expect any "poetic grace" in the poem. I find it difficult for it to really flow smoothly. I would start on ideas tonight, but It's after 1 AM and I'm exhausted. I'm sure the poem is doable though. =D I already have ideas, but I'll figure it out tomorrow. Meh, poetry...
