Can we research when items were released?

#1 Post by sape789 »

Is there a way to look up when an item was released? Specifically, I wanted to know when the Peo was released as a petpet. Just curious as to how many points I would get if the regular ole Peo was the PPL.

I really don't know if you can search who has the oldest petpet, it really wouldn't matter when it was released because i've seen PPL where they had a really old petpet that hardly NO one had and the oldest was only a matter of weeks.

I'd say pick a really ugly petpet that you really hate and use it...if you keep it long enough you might win.

As far as researching when it was released...you may just have to dive down in to Neo's own past news...only way I can think to find a time line...unless someone's done it and put a website up...dunno

Not sure if this helps, but I do believe that shops and safety deposit boxes put things in the order that they were released. I have no idea how to find the specific date, though.

i *think* there may be a way of seeing when an image was uploaded to the neopets server. i dont know how tho. but if there actually is then if the image hasnt been updated since it was released you could get an estimate as the image would have been uploaded shortly before it was released. you could then go to the news around that time and look.

Just do a shop wiz search for "peo" and then move your mouse over it. You'll see an item Id number. Lower IDs were released earlier.

If you want specific dates, you can search through around 5 years of news archives here: http://www.neopets.com/newfeatures.phtml?type=oldnews

There is no search feature, if you were going to ask that. You need to search through by hand ;) (Or find someone with an awesome memory...)

As to searching the news, it may help to use the ctrl+f trick to find specific words on a page, but you still have to go through every page.

Neoitems might tell you when it was released. It's been awhile since I checked there, but it's possible.

Yes, DiscordantNote is correct, although recently they have restricted item searches to members only ee;

Is the oldest Peo if I'm not mistaken...

If you want to know how many NP you'll get then multiply how many days you've owned it by 10...

No, it's impossible. I'm not sure if they even did keep the dates with the new system they put into place. Even so, those dates were always when the item was added to the database, not when it was released.

I checked. The dates are not there anymore. I think the only way to figure out approximately when it was released is to find a petpet gallery and see how high up in the gallery it is--the higher up, the older it would be. Then, at least, you cut down on the amount of archived news you need to search through to find the exact date.

EDIT: I just checked a maraquan gallery, crystalbluewaves, and the Peo is the 9th aquatic petpet released--so it is pretty old. By the way, that gallery owner has just about everything to do with aquatics in her shop--check it out sometime, it is an awesome gallery.

No Airax unless I'm just blind, a good hint for ppl, is if your petpet is chosen, don't change petpets if your pet didn't get listed, try painting it a different color, your pet might be the oldest of the new color.

And if you win, pant your pet a different color, you could win again sometime in the furture with the new color lol
