Past or Future?

What if you had a time machine, and had the option to go into either the past or the future? You can only choose one; which would you choose?

Note: You can still come back to your own time after travelling to either past or future.

I don't think I'd like to go to either, unless I wanted to do some research.

Could you travel to past/future several times? That might help me make my mind up.

Probably the past because I at least knew what happened and I could learn before going so I don't do anything stupid to get myself killed (burnt at the stake, etc). I don't know if I want to know about what is going to happen in the future.

The past, that way I could loot things only recently discovered so that it wouldn't screw up my history, and I'd be rich.

But if I could go back to my own past and change things, that might come first.

I'd go into the past to solve all of the so far unsolved mysteries.

Then I'd be famous and could sell lots of books.

the future.
i have no intention of changing the past (assuming were not taking any laws of temporal dynamics into account here) but from the future i could visit the one place that i belive can make me happy.
anywhere but earth.
oh, and learn the secrets needed to build a vast army of Kull warriors, with which i will use to conquer the universe, but thats a given realy.

You can travel to whatever period of time you like, however, be it one day before or 1,000,000 centuries ago. The same for the future.

If I happen to be in the future, I must make sure I copy down all the Lotto winning numbers before I go back to present.

I dun think I want to be back to the past. The thought of going through all my exams scare me.

Okay. I'd go into the past. I don't know when, though. The past fascinates me.

I'd go to the future.

And the sad thing is that the first thing I'd do is write down which items on Neo have inflated dramatically, and end up hoarding them extensively.

And it'd make betting on anything a whole lot easier.

Sadly enough, I'd do the same (although they could have inflated because you hoarded them xD). I wouldn't want to go to the past, as that would disrupt everything, and the present as we know it would be different. I'm scared for the future, so no going to see if we are ruled by flying monkeys. So I shall go four years into the future and see myself at 18, hopefully not dead. I'd see if I dropped out of university or if I was succeeding. And then I'd go on Neopets, and PPT, because it would be less harmful.

Trust me, knowing the future in advance can be a painful thing... even if it is just a few years in advance.
