I love British humor. 
I've been meaning to read the first book for a while. My dad said they were pretty close though. I saw it for my birthday last weekend. Has anyone seen the BBC shows of it? Those are sooo cheap and corny. This was cool. I like the 'so long and thank you for the fish' part, 42, and the manic depressive robot. Anyone else think that one guy sounds sort of like Bush?

I think the casting of Alan Rickman for Marvin in the films was inspired.

mmm alan rickman. when i saw the last harry potter film i spent the entire time going "WAHEY RICKMAN" everytime he appeared.

I convinced my mom and dad to see it with me a week or so after it came out. I thought it was great, my dad thought it was okay, and my mom thought it was stupid (I'm the only one who has read the books). I loved Marvin.

I will agree that Alan Rickman as Marvin was perfect, but other than that, I was extremely unimpressed.

I actually didn't like Marvin.
That's the humor I found to be very forced.
It came off too...too.... 'children's humor' to me.

I haven't seen it yet, but I loved the books and am hoping to. This is the sort of movie that could either be really good or really bad. Hopefully, and judging from what I've heard, it falls into the former category.

On its own a pretty good movie, but when compared to the books...uhm... 
Actually, the first 10-15 minutes were pretty much word-for-word, but once they got on the Heart of Gold, it was a completely different story. The numerous plotholes were pretty irritating too, actually. But I loved Alan Rickman as Marvin....Seriously, who thought of that?

Yea, Restaurant at the End of the Universe. I am reading Hitchhikers now, it is good, then I plan to read the next. I hope for a sequel.

Yea, Restaurant at the End of the Universe. I am reading Hitchhikers now, it is good, then I plan to read the next. I hope for a sequel.
I've heard it was a five-part trilogy (it started out as a trilogy, then a fourth book was made, then a fifth), so possibly five movies will be made.
I really want to see this for my birthday. I read the first book and loved it, and I can't wait to see what the movie's like. I don't care if it doesn't follow the book through the whole thing, if it did it would be a bit dull.

For once, the movie was better than the book since they go to another planet other than Magrathea. But who cares? Don't talk about it, don't talk about the sky, don't talk about life. I hate life, I hate the movie. ah.
