They might as well have just had the LC be "How many prime numbers between 1 million, when added to one, become perfect squares?"

I'm too lazy to actually do this myself, but it'd be much easier for you to find the perfect squares then test those minus one for being primes.

Can someone please PM me explaining to me what a perfect square is - I guessed how many there were seeing as I understand perfect squares relating to quadratic equations and not numbers :)

I think it's fair enough to say what a square number is, as it doesn't outright tell what the solution is. A square number is any number that has a factor which, multiplied by itself, gives you that number. For example, 25 is a square number because it is 5*5. Of course, if you did the last LC, you should know that.

I'm so sad that I didn't get the last NP even though I entered exactly the same answer. I don't even know if I should bother with this...

[EDIT] Can I confirm with someone the number of prime thingies?

I'm not sure about 2 of the food chias... One of them is food but all the other pets with the same colour aren't food...

If you doubt the food colour, do a search for Magical Chia Pops of that flavour: that's the primary way chias morph.

And I learned something very interesting about the numbers before square numbers. Seems they follow a pattern which makes it easy to determine which are prime and which aren't. I'd share... but that would be telling. :p Here's hoping my other numbers are right, and that I put it in early enough.

Yeah, but there's one that is food but no chia pop for it. I don't think it counts with the food though, I have no idea anyway.

I did it by hand. It took some time, but I was done in about 3 hours. Especially as I quickly picked up on the pattern established.

A hint for all those working out primes: if a number doesn't have a factor less that its square root other than 1, then the number is prime. Also, certain factors are easy to calculate. No even number is prime aside from 2. The digits of a multiple of 3 add up to a multiple of 3 (sidenote: a multiple of 9 adds up to 9). Multiples of 5 end in either 5 or 0. It's also easier if you have a list of the first 20 prime numbers or so.
