Cute, but I'm scared of any wild animal/pet that is considered illegal. So I'd never get one. *doesn't even know why they're illegal here*

I know full well they smell but I don't think they smell that bad, sort of a bit sweaty but that's it.
I think it's because she scared of rodents.
But that's a gorgeous ferret.
What gave you the idea for Romeo?

Oh, I didn't name him Romeo, that's what the shelter picked for him. :)

That's cool that you got him from a shelter :)
When I saw the name Romeo the first thing to pop into my head was "When I get a ferret I shall call it Tybalt!"
I'm obsessed with trying to call things Tybalt, that name just rocks.

How did you come up with that name? I've been obsesed with this one name... I promised myself if I ever got another rodent, I would name it Bruce.... O.o

I really don't see anything about it attacking you.

And if it did, I doubt it did it just for the heck of it. It probably felt threatened by you. If someone does something that you feel is rude or cruel, don't you become frustrated or angry? Same case with the ferret, probably.

I'm sorry if I sound rude, but I really dislike it when people start going on about how such-and-such (races of humans, animals, heck, food, even) is horrible, just because they had a negative experience with one. :)

Not to mention that when kittens do the same thing (and worse) we call it playing.

Kittens make tons of wholes in your socks and scratch your feet all up to look horrible....And they bite you?

Well Tybalt is another character from Romeo and Juliet. I'm having a brain fart, but I believe he's Juliet's cousin. Who Romeo kills.

You are correct. I remember from my Shakespear Coursework.

¬_¬

I'd rather forget it though...

And umm... A brain fart?

Adam, have you ever played with a kitten before? Not the really young ones.. but when they're several months old, they get to the super-frisky stage. The kitten can be lying all innocently next to you, and as soon as you go to stroke it, it wraps it's little paws around your hand, digs it's claws in, kicks at you with it's back legs, and bites your wrist. It's playing. It's a game to them, and they grow out of it in a few more months. I would always let my kittens tear up my hands like that, because even though it hurt, it was kind of fun for me too, it's interaction. If you have two kittens, they'll playfight eachother that way, just the same as they do to your hand.
I've been around several ferrets in my life, and none of them have ever acted even close to as vicious as kittens at play. You've been around one ferret. You can't judge an entire species of animal because of what one ferret did to you. It may make you not want to be around ferrets anymore, and that's fine, it's your life. But don't go saying ferrets should be illegal because of what one ferret did.
For all we know, that ferret was possessed by the undead spirit of Joan Crawford, and thought your ankle was her daughter Christina, so of course she'd have to attack.

Also, Shoelace, I used to have a cat named Tybalt, I named him that because he was mean =D
Tybalt's the perfect name for a cat though:
Quote:
Tybalt: What wouldst thou have with me?
Mercutio: Good king of cats, nothing but one of your nine lives

My cat used to do that, so yes. He would play with my foot while I was trying to fall asleep, and scratched me up quite a bit. Now he hasn't bitten me as play, but puppies sure do. When I was younger, I remember being sort of scared by these two dogs because they kept nibbing me. Yet people still call it play.

That ferret was probably either afraid of you, or defending his territory from what he would see as a strange, furless giant. You have to remember that all pets started out as wild animals. Dogs are descended from wolves, our tiny cats are related to lions, tigers, and cheetahs, and even hamsters came straight from the wild of the Syrian Desert. Ferrets are no exception to this rule, they were wild too. And they aren't completely domesticated yet, so don't expect them to act like a perfectly behaved pet.

Gorgeous ferret by the way, Dawn. :)

I did Macbeth for my Shakespeare Coursework but am fairly assured in my knowledge of other plays ;)

Tybalt's ace, but I prefer Mercutio and Benvolio. Benvolio sounds like a soup flavour.

He. Is. SO. Cute! <3 [blehh I'm so weak for cute things :P] Congrats on finding such a cute fella there Dawn :3

I'm not sure if I can find one in where I live. I like kittens more though, even if they're more rough on playing. There used to be stray cats down where I live and I would get them a paperball (scrunched up paper) with a string attached to it. I'd bounce it up and down and they'd try to get it.

Then they get rougher. When they get the ball, they won't let go >_< So I decided it was time to go home and leave them to play.

When I grow older, I'll make sure I get at least a kitten for a pet :)

Back to ferrets, I don't really know much about them so I can't give you any tips. I'm sure you know quite a lot already and you can always learn as you take care of it. :D Good luck! I hope you get Romeo :)

I'm sorry to ruin the majesty of the moment, but the thought of hamsters running wild and free over the vast, sandy expanse of the desert is highly amusing.

Guinea Pigs are still eaten quite reguarily in South America and Mexico.
It's not all that bad actually; kinda crispy the way I had it though. *shrug*
