Well, I'm starting a new, hopefully series, of polls about the English language. You know the whole saying, "You say to-mate-toe, I say toe-mah-toe." It's sort of like that, only with things like celler/basement, ya'll/you all...things like that.

This week I'll be polling what people call our beloved drink...Pepsi!


Do you call it soda, pop or coke? (If you call something different, what do you say instead?)

FEEDBACK: Have any ideas for other rounds of this? Any will be really helpful!

Im with Alex. Pepsi is pepsi.

I refer to any soda by its proper brand name. Except root beer, mainly cause I don't drink it and thus have no reason to say it.

I call it Pepsi too xD I call Coca Cola and all shop brand colas coke but I call Pepsi Pepsi and all other big brand name stuff by their name too.

And no such thing as soda here of course, except American Cream Soda

Any black fizzy drink at our home is reffered to as Coke for some reason. Probabyl because we almost never drink any other cola soft drink

If I weren't to call it Pepsi, I would call it soda.

Down south you'll find that all carbonated beverages are referred to as "Coke" regardless of brand or flavour. So Sprite is Coke, Mountain Dew is Coke, Pepsi is Coke, etc. (I'm so not joking, I wish I was)

(also, I was so ready to open this thread and say "You say tomato, I say disgusting." because tomatoes are evil and nasty.)

Yes! So I'm not the only person to think that!

I think I call any fizzy liquid coke. XD

On AIM some of my friends and I got into a big argument over it...

Check it out. It's somewhat accurate, but not amazingly. According to it, me and everyone I know (grammatical error! ) should say "Coke". But no one here calls anything but Coca-Cola Coke.

It's either soda or pepsi. Soda is never pop, never soda pop, never coke, and if it is, it's coca-cola, not coke. It's SODA.

Er, where "Down South" are we talking about?
I live in the South and call beverages by their proper names.
I call Pepsi Pepsi.
I rarely have to, though, because Coke > everything.
