To all Bittorrent fans, here's a little tidbit I found on the matter:

http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1828633,00.asp

This makes me veerryy annoyed at BT, as my computer contains the Aurora.exe program.

and the moment i open the link i get an add.
typical.

oh well, thats what you get for having a medium of communication that is exempt to a frag load of laws that would prevent this kind of thing.

That's only telemarketers and people in the marketing industry.

We'd never betray you.

Telemarketers are afraid of our house.
as are Mormons and iehovas witnesses.
and the neighbours.

Still, i must speak from experiance here and say that given the right incentive, most people would betray almost everyone they know.
i will honestly admit that there are only about three people who i would sacrafice for my greatest desires.

I have yet to see any evidence of such files on my computer.

Well, it depends on two things:

1. What you are Torrenting.
2. If you have sufficient protection (Firewall,anti-virus/spyware,etc.)

I don't have any of that on my laptop or on my bf's desktop and he uses bt an awful lot for all sorts of files.

Has this been reported on any other websites? I can't seem to find any info about it on my usual tech haunts.

Edit: Ah I see, it wasn't bt itself that was doing this, they shut it down when it was brought to their attention. Man, adware gets everywhere these days. But then when using a file sharing program you should always be aware that you don't know what your getting, it's hard for the prog itself to stay on top of stuff like that, and if you've got a decent ad/spyware scanner, firewall and virus scanner, and if you keep your eyes peeled then you'll always be fine :)

However the fact that bt shut these guys down is great, it's more than what most file sharing peeps would do, heh.

My brother uses BitTorrent aaaaaaaall the time (for music and, other stuff) and those programs aren't on our computer (well, not Aurora, searching for the other one). Guess we must be lucky. *does a dance*

Well...I don't have those on my computer. Then again, I only download stuff from sources I trust, and my computer is protected, so there wouldn't be much of a chance that I'd have it anyway.

I use a bittorrent program, but which one exactly escapes me at the moment.

I'd use bittorrent a lot more had I not a problem with my computer restarting randomly during its use.

Anyways, I don't have much to worry about in the way of spyware. I have a spyware and anti-virus program, and I hardly download software.

I run The Infinity Program, a den of villains and swashbucklers.
