I always use the backspace provided I actually catch the mistake. I know that the people I talk to would probably understand what I am saying even with the error but I just prefer to have everything in a condition that I am happy with too.

Same here.

Sometimes I misspell the * message.:P

I called Cae 'Car' three extra times by using an asterik to correct myself. Look, I even have that saved-

Dawn: Hi Car
Dawn: *Car
Dawn: **Car
Cae: ....
Dawn: ***Car
Dawn: DAMNIT
Cae: Quit calling me a car!

I am the typo queen. I never use backspace because I'm too lazy, and never am quite able to correct things with asteriks the right way. Do I get points for trying, though? :P

I use backspace without really thinking about it. A sign of when I'm overtired is when I'm actually capable of stopping myself from using it. My typing can be quite bad at times, but because I fix things automatically, most people don't see it. When I stop using backspace...

Once and a while I do miss things, though, and then I always do the *correction, even if it's something obvious, or if several things have been said since that. It just bothers me that it could look like I didn't notice it. :P

(How much anyone care to bet that there's going to be some huge mistake in this now?)

Ironically, even though I try to use impeccable grammar online, I never use backspace when instant messaging. As terrible as it is, I assume my friends will understand my meaning, as I usually only mistype a few letters. Occasionally, some characters move many spaces (lie thski) and then my friends make fun of me. But as chatting is rather informal, none of us make a big deal out of typos. If it's hard to understand what we meant, we'll use the asterisk method.

Yes, I normally do, unless I'm too lazy and it's still readable.

There are different levels of typoness in my book. Some I still deem coherent, such as "of cousre". Others which are more weird, like "greast" (trying to type "great"), I will quickly correct. ;)

I never look at the keyboard while typing. I look at the screen, and if I make a mistake, I change it automatically. My finger hits the backspace before I even realize it.

Now sometimes I don't notice my mistake until after I send the message, in which case I use the old *correction thing.

Dawn, Alex, while we're digging though AIM quotes, here's some of mine:

Me: I used puncutation
Me: Which I can't spell

Me: I'm grak at DIY.
Paul: grak?
Me: *great
Me: I can't seem to type though XD

And actually Alex, I have one of yours ;P

Alex: typoung go ign todnw the draink

I do that also. I use backspace and if I make a mistake and need to correct it, and I've already sent the message, I'll use the good old asterisk. Sometimes I continue to mispell things. ¬_¬

I once spelt sushi bar mixing up the r and a on bar. It became a sushi bra. -_-

Hey, I was seriously tired and had gone, like, 20 hours without sleep. Or, at least it felt like I went 20 hours without sleep. :P

Yea. I do use it. Especially when I did have to correct the spelling of "floccinaucinihilipilification". Sometimes letters misplaced here and there don't bother me such as "thigns" and "mcuh", but I always end up correcting them afterwards.

I'm an avid backspacer.
But you know, I'm a horrible speller so I usually spell things wrong anyway, no matter how much I backspace. And sometimes I just randomly forget words. Like this one time, I asked a guy out through AIM...(Wasn't my idea! I wanted to tell him in person, but my friend forced me to.) It came out,

ME: Would you out with me?
HIM: ?

:battar: Oh yeah, I'm smooth.

I always use backspace. When I make a mistake my finger automatically goes for the backspace key and I fix it. Like so far I've made two typos in the post and both times my finger flung to the backspace key XD.

But if I'm on IM and I make a mistake and don't realize it I go (correction)*.

my typing is absolutely vile and everyone I talk to knows that. If I'm on a messanger and typing to someone, it's most likely that I'm doing something else in another window. So, if that's the case I'll be doing something in the other window whilst I'm using the messanger, so I probably wont catch the mistake.

I'm not brilliant, but I'm good enough. If I have one thing open, my typing will be legible.
