[Woah, three posts since I left xP Oh well, most of the characters were asleep so they couldn't do much ...]
[*hustles Eirynn, Eithne, Katrina and Sarena off to bed* (if there's anybody else awake, I'm putting them in bed too, I didn't check earlier than the fifth page.)]
[Speedy! >:]]
Caress slowly opened her eyes. She yawned as she sat up and swung her legs to dangle over the side of the bed, throwing the blanket aside. Her hand moved across the bed behind her, feeling for her sword, which was always beside her, even when she slept. Feeling her hand close around the cold hilt of her blade, she glanced at the clock on the bedside table. It was six thirty.
Well, breakfast usually started at 7:15. She had plenty of time. Smiling to herself, she got up and padded across her room towards the bathroom for a shower. She stopped mid-pace. She had a feeling she was forgetting something. Forgetting something very, very, important. She was forgetting something ... right?
Don't be silly, Caress. You're not forgetting anything. Now be a good girl and take that shower, you're filthy.
Caress heeded the voice in her head and proceeded into the bathroom to wash up, closing the door behind her. She came out some fifteen minutes later, towelling her wet hair dry. Again, she had the feeling that she had forgotten something important. She paused for a moment, looking thoughtful, then shrugged, shaking the feeling off. She changed into her favourite sky-blue silk robes, and slipped happily into her shoes. She brushed her hair. She strapped her sword to her waist with a sash. She flung open the door and danced out, barelling straight into Lance.
'Good morning!' Caress chirped cheerfully. 'Oh, sorry, Lancey, did I hurt you ...?'
'No, no, I'm fine,' Lance said calmly. Then he grinned. 'But you're looking unsually happy, especially for a girl who's just been given an Assignment of Doom just the night before.'
'Huh?' Caress looked startled.
Lance looked a little thoughtful. 'Hm ... is it because of me? Is it because I gave you the honour of handling such a difficult and important assignment, and of course, I'm irresistably, amazingly, divinely handsome, so you don't mind charging off to obliterate demons just for me? Because you'll do anything I say, huh?' He winked.
Caress froze. Demons? Demons ... what?! What was Lance talking about ? She swallowed. Memories of last night came flooding back to her. The frog demon, being drained, in the foyer, the discussion, the assignment ... uh-oh.
'Oh yeah, by the way, have you recovered from the demon's draining last night? You look wonderful to me ...' Lance's voice seemed distant in her mind, overlapped by panic.
She turned and fled straight back to her room, using her almost beyond-human speed to reach there in maybe the time it took for Lance to blink, slamming the door behind her with a loud BANG.
