Aww, I expected more mysterious cloak-and-dagger stuff from you, Scott. :P

Heheh, lets just say that I wasn't prepared to run 1.5 kilometres. I ended up walking half of it, then falling asleep until my next race :P

But back onto Werewolf...

Well, these first days are always sort of random. People jumping around talking about timezones and running races. Tis a shame nothing happened on Night 0 though :P

1.5 is peanuts. Here we have to run 2.4 within 13 minutes. :>

Of course 1.5 is peanuts. But I wasn't prepared for how much it was :P

I went a wee bit too fast for the first lap. Second lap... going okay. Third lap... falling behind. Fourth lap.... walking. I came last, but about 6 other people dropped out, so it wasn't all too bad. And I assure you, I definately had less than 13 minutes. Much less :P

I have a dream. A dream that people no longer have the security to hide behind made-up roles. A dream that people, whether good or bad, have truth in their hearts. I have a dream that baddies must work harder and that innocents must work less hard. I have a dream.

Basically, I have this really groovy idea. I was planning on using it this game, but then the factions came into it, but it'd still be cool. Whenever a baddie tells you his role, he'll tend to make up something like 'plain innocent.' However, he might come up with some groovy idea, and then change it later on. My idea should stop this. It also allows people to test the validity of others' statement, and allows the innocents to gel together more easily, whilst picking flaws in the baddies alibis.

In truth, it will never work as perfectly as detailed above, but it should be a fun idea which makes this game even more differently than others. It may give the baddies a slight advantage in knowing what roles to pick off, but Scott generally never uses the same role name twice. A pixie (Double or Halver) was known as the Magician in the last game, but we do not know what it is called this game (let alone if it's here). Also, we cannot build automatic suspicions based on this. We know that the baddies will probably lie, and even if they don't, their response may conflict with possible goodies.

So, there is my idea: Each person reveals the first letter in the name of their role. We don't give our full role name, which means that no-one will know exactly what the others do. Instead, we just lay down a barrier which prevents compulsive liars, and makes holes in people's stories appear, so it is much easier to found suspicions. If the worst comes to the worst, we could always vote people off based on whether their letter began with a 'M' for Mafia, or 'W' for Werewolves, but that's a bit... stupid... if you ask me, considering that 'M' could stand for Magician, and 'W' could stand for 'Weally, Weally Powerful Wole.' Yes, I was wunning short on ideas.

I will start the buck, because people will be suspicious of me, starting this idea and not finishing it. The first letter in my tolle is Cl but I will start it off to release some tension regarding it.

That's a nice dream, but my as in your examples listed, may make an innocent seem bad and a baddie seem... not bad? I dunno.

Well, I'll join in.

Mafia!!!

*cough* Frankly, I don't see how posting the first name of each person's role will "prevent compulsive liars", since one letter can be twisted into many many different roles, and most baddies know to stick with the same story throughout unless they are incredibly stupid anyway.

In fact, you sure you aren't trying to use this as a guise to activate some role power or requirement, Matt? Like "Try to guess the first letter of the roles of 4 different players and you get a day-kill"? :battar:

Positive. I have seen this used in one game before - A really cool Mafia game in which people could do actions, like:

Action: Examine the dead person's body for any clues

Or:

Action: Ride naked on a motorcycle trying to pick up chicks (The dude that did that one 'fell of the cycle', broke his leg and couldn't do anything for a couple of days.)

This provied really interesting game play, turning it much more into a logic puzzle than a game of ranomndess like on our fourms. Still, I digress.

Anyways, Qanda, what harm is there in revealing the first letter of your role, unless you have something to hide? If you'd rather, we could say 3rd or 9th or last, or whatever. I just used first for simplicity's sake. :) It's surprising how many baddies come up with roles that constantly change, and by doing it this early on in the game, they may forget their 'covers,' and they may also become a lot more paranoid, and watching. -shrugs-

Eh... it's too early to think right now. >_<

*raises hands* I'm a compulsive liar!

Probably shouldn't have said that, right?

Well anyway, someone say something so we can kil... err execu... uhhh help you, help the team.

Lol, there's no harm in revealing first letters, but there's no real benefit either (for reasons already stated). If I were a baddie I would be the first to reveal it, since it would be a show of openness. But I'm not, and I need to consider the possibility of you being a baddie trying to activate a role power. ;)

Seriously, there's no point revealing first letters. I could say that the first letter of my role is "P", which could be twisted into "plain innocent", "pickpocket", "poisoner", "prison guard", "purple panties owner" etc, etc. There seriously is no use, hence I suspect your motives for propounding such an idea out of the blue.

Thu Jul 28, 2005 11:54 am

I've actually heard of this idea being used before.

Meh, I reckon that if most people did do it, it'd involve more tactics. Because that way, if they were baddies, there'd be the possibility of making a mistake while 'revealing' their roles. And for all those thread combers here, this'd be a really good piece of evidence.

Meh, my M still stands either way. Make what you will out of it.
