Oww.

I'm supposed to be removing the boards from our deck, and I was pulling up all the screws. There was this bench against a wall that I had to move to get at some of the screws, so I grabbed it and was pulling it away, but there was a massive wasps (I think they're wasps) nest, and they were smurf at having they're home moved. So a bunch of them swarmed out and I got stung at least a dozen times right in the same place! There's about 4 visible swellings, and I'm pretty sure I got stug more than once ina lot of those places andit just made one swelling. I've never really been stung before, and it hurts like heck. I don't know whether I'm allergic or anyhting, or if there's stingers still in or anyhting. I'm home alone, too, so I can't tell my folks.

What do I do? :(

TAKE BENADRYL. NOW. You got stung quite a bit and it's important!

Thankyou Fidds.

Owowow. It still burns. [/wussiness]

EDIT: no more indvidual swellings, now there's just a gigantic lump on my hand. It looks like I'm growing a couple of extra fingers XD

The best thing you can do, is ice it (not too cold though) and put on some hydracortizone cream. If you don't have that, benedryl cream.
After that, if it continues to swell (considering how much you were bitten) you need to go see a doctor. Wasp bites can get infected quickly because of the toxins in a wasps bite. So you need to be pretty careful.
Try not to move your hand too much, keep it nice and cool to try to keep the swelling down as best you can.
And once your parents get home, get them to check it out.

Thank you also Inrun. I'll try to keep it as still as possible, but I still have to get well over a hundred boards up, plus quite a few screws. I just got hydrocortisone on it, I hope it helps. It's still swelling, so I'll get to a doctor as sson as I can. might not be today though, with all those cursed boards.

I should hope your parents would understand that you can't be lifting boards with those injuries. You need to rest!

YAy! Finally got my mum to pick up her cellphone. She says she'll let me finish the boards tomorrow when the bees aren't so smurfed (they kept swarming me every time I went outside!) So now I'm supposed to do laundry and vacuuming and whatnot. Much better. ^^

Yikes.

Over the summer, I work at a summer camp- and we were on a creek walk. A group of kids accidently walked over a wasp's net, and got stung over a dozen times too.

She was crying for a while, but she was alright after that. Let me look on the web for any bee sting help.

Here's some info I found-

Quote:
If one is stung, the wound can be treated in the following ways:

Remove the stinger with all haste, in whatever manner is most convenient. If you see a little black dot in the wound, part of the stinger is still present.
Apply a solution of one part meat tenderizer to 4 parts water. Papain, the enzyme in meat tenderizer, breaks down the protein in bee venom responsible for the pain and itching. Don't leave this on for more than 30 minutes, or it can irritate the skin. If this isn't available, you might try an antiperspirant. Aluminum chlorohydrate reduces the effect of bee venom, but to a lesser extent.
Apply cold. Use ice or cool water for 10 to 30 minutes after the sting. This blunts the body's allergic response.
An antihistamine such as Benadryl, taken by mouth, can give some added relief, and help prevent the reaction from spreading.
A shake lotion such as calamine can be helpful. A paste made of baking soda and water can have a similar effect.
Topical hydrocortisone can also provide some symptomatic relief.
Give acetaminophen or ibuprofen for systemic pain relief.

After a bee sting, different children will have different reactions:

Bee stings cause immediate, painful red bumps.
In most cases, the pain has largely disappeared within 2 hours, although swelling may not be apparent until the next day.
Large local reactions, larger than 3 inches in diameter, will often persist for up to a week. A physician should be consulted if the reaction continues to spread.
Systemic reactions such as hives, redness, or swelling elsewhere on the body, vomiting, dizziness, hoarseness, thickened speech, or difficulty breathing, should receive prompt medical care from a physician. Also, be sure to see a doctor if there were 10 or more stings, or if one of the stings was inside the nose or mouth, since swelling can interfere with breathing.

Did they bite you or sting you? Wasps can do both.
If they're bees and not wasps you need to make sure all the stingers are out. If it'd been me who was bitten like that, i'd be in the hospital, screaming in pain. *nods*
*allergic*
You need to get your parents to pick up some wasp killer to clear out the nest, and if that doesn't work call an exterminator.

I don't know if I got bitten or stung, just that it hurts like crazy. I can't see any black in it, so I don't think there's any stiger left in. That's good. ^^ I'm pretty sure they're wasps. I googled descriptions for them and they're nests. They're either wasps or yellowjackets.

I wouldn't continue that job until you've got an exterminator or someone of a similar profession to be sure there are no more nests down there. I would also go see a doctor, since this is your first time being stung, let alone that many times at once.

EDIT: I'd also suggest wearing gloves next time you do a job like that. It helps prevent all sorts of stings and bites from insects and spiders, and you won't get as many blisters or splinters either. :)

Yup, I agree with everyone else. Call in the exterminator to remove the nests. At the very least, get wasp spray at the store.

And I agree with going to the doctor. Multiple bee stings like that generally deserve a doctors visit.

Thanks so much guys! ^^ My mum said she'd pick up wasp stuff on the way back tonight, so we can get rid of them. And I'll defintiely wear gloves for the rest of it. (anyway, if I gotten bitten by a spider I'd never post here again...I'd die of sheer terror *veerrry arachnophobic*)

If it's your first time being stung, generally you won't have a reaction because your bodies never experienced it before. Well not a total allergic reaction if you are indeed allergic. The first time I was stung, it hurt a lot, but I didn't react badly.
Now I react, and remain swollen for over a week. I got bit over the summer... and it was really annoying. I got bit by a wasp on the calf muscle, and my calf swelled up, and then my knee and then my ankle. And I was stiff/swollen/sore for well over a week. The pain stays with me for a couple days rather then two hours.
everyone whose bitten will react differently. And normally were it just one sting I wouldn't say go in. But you're describing multiple bites/stings, so I think in this case it would be best if you did.

You shouldn't have to be out doing hard manual labour anyway. I would also go with the exterminator option, if you still have hundred of boards left, you still have hundreds of suprises waiting for you (and this does not include Inca gold).
