Don't stop in the middle of the hallway, or on the stairs. Ever. I had a group of freshemn stand on the stairs and no one could get by.

Just don't be overly annoying, and if you're on a bus and an upperclassmen tells you to be quiet, tone it down a little because usually theres a reason :P Be nice, don't bump into upperclassmen or anything in the halls. Respect them, yadda yadda. Basicly what everyone already said.

I'm going to skip to the surviving highschool part.

Don't be at all rude. Ever.
Don't be stupid. Don't do something like talk with your mouth full for laughs, or put a chair on your head to see how long it can stay up for.
For goodness sakes, don't throw things. Ever. Its so annoying, a pencil randomly goes flying past your head, and no one even appologizes, and they just look away embarressed.
If you do something that might have bigged someone, like step on their heel or smacked their binder, appologize. Always appologize, its better to come off as a little odd than rude.

One last thing...

DON'T MAKE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FRIGGIN HALL!!

Australia has it good.

You've only got Primary School (K-6), then High School (7-12). Sometimes High School is also divided into just plain old High School (7-10) and Senior College (11 and 12), but usually they're stuck together.

Anyway, Year 7 kids are always obnoxious at our school. And small. God they're small. Quite often, when they start running their mouths, a good scare is in order (a threatening gesture, but never anything serious).

I'm guessing it may be similar for you, with the seniors just trying to scare the pants off you. Just don't act too smart around them, and you should be fine :)

e.e That's so annoying!!! Although I won't say I'm not guilty of linking arms with 10 of my friends and marching down the main hallway. 0:)

Also, because my mum's a teacher at my school, I got a centrally-located locker. STUPID FRESHMEN HANG OUT IN FRONT OF IT. I mean, come on, at least move away from my locker when I ask you to, so I don't have to shove you aside.

Just be nice, be yourself, and act maturely. If someone's randomly mean to you, don't take it personally. They're jerks. Don't be too scared. It wasn't bad at all at my school, and my school's reputed for being pretty bad.

I agree with this. Personally the only reason niners have ever annoyed me is because of the fact that they're always in your way, and in large chunks everywhere. Just don't stop in the middle of hallways, and try not to gather infront of one particular person's locker, where you end up sticking out a lot. Niners are just funny beecause you can always pick them out from everyone else, it's jsut so obvious, especially the first month or two. After that, no one really cares anymore. Just don't worry about it, highschool is so much better, and I'm sure you'll love it.

Why do like the upperclassmen really really despise the freshman. I mean, when I entered 6th grade it wasn't this bad.

They don't despise them...usually. Sometimes they find freshman annoying. I know, we've all been new at some point- but when you're a senior, you'd probably think the incoming freshman are annoying too.

And is there really a freshman friday?

I'm not sure. At my school there isn't. But I came to my school sophomore year. So...yeah. It might be a rumor- or it might happen at some, but not all schools.

Lastly, any tips to surviving high school?

Don't get a big ego. Upperclassmen HATE that. Don't act better than everyone else. Just follow the rules, respect people in every grade, and don't be intimidated by older people. Good luck!

Damn Year 7s.

Of course, some are lovely.

Starting highschool Tuesday, and I'm a freshman as well. I'm not as nervous as I should be, probably. I'm just thinking, Don't get a big ego. And respect upperclassmen. -shrug-

Oh yes. Upperclassmen over here really get into all of that.
I actually sit next to freshmen in my Band class, and they're fine most of the time. What's really annoying is the two seniors to the left of me. They constantly talk about the 9th Grade trumpets like they're scum or something.
I was helping one of the underclassmen who forgot his music the other day and they told me I shouldn't have helped him, and that he should have been on his own.
....Just get a life. k, thx

There used to be Freshman Initiation at my school. Seniors would take freshies out to a field somewhere and dump ketchup and stuff all over them. Then go through the car wash. Some people would, of course, take it too far and leave the freshmen somewhere to walk to town.

Then they made it illegal. I was never initiated. But I did have to change seats because upperclasspeople wanted mine. That's all changed now....... muhahahaha..... Go juniors!

Seriously, uppity freshmen are the most annoying thing ever. They act like they own the place. I have no problem with helping them. They're weird and make me laugh. I like most of the ickle freshies.....

It's a smart duck....watch it do math..........o.0

Don't use a rolling backpack and you'll be fine...A map of the school helps a lot too (I've had my map for 3 years now.)

Your school must be pretty big if you need a map.

Our old school was huge. We had three different buildings and we needed a map.

Year 7's are okay if they understand that they're not in Primary School anymore (or Junior High). They are so used to being top of the school and bossing the younger ones around they think they can just move into Secondary School (or High School) with the same attitude. Big no-no. Just be yourself and don't play the fool or mess around at the older ones expense and you'll be fine. :)
