After three seasons of being an alumni bleacher bum, this year I'm actually on marching tech staff so I can say "our" and not mean "back then" now.
Our show is selections from The Who's Tommy.
http://www.ihsband.org/2005/announcemen ... flash.htmlIt's rather...unlike us. I can't recal a show involving this type of music. But we'll see how the season goes.
That's awesome! My brother was just in a local production of Tommy, and it was the coolest musical I've ever seen!
Anyway, my band is doing a show called Resilience, which is made of music composed by a guy named Karl Jenkins (whom you've probably never heard of and willforget about quite quickly). The three movements are Stretch, Flex, and Bounce, in which the color guard has long, stretchy cloth, bundy tubes which flags come out of, and large balls and trampolines (each for the respective movement). It's cool music, albiet hard, and the visuals are apparantly stunning, and we haven't even gotten to our first competition yet! We're also done learning the whole show, and we're usually still only 2/3 the way through at this point in the season.
And don't get me started on our stand music. We play many songs that you probably would not associate a marching band with. But it sounds cool, and people like us due to it.
Yes, I'm still alive...still alive...
