For those topics one could describe as the forum equivalent of a twinkie. Word games, forum contests and giveaways are all the rage here.

This competition wasn't about who sent it in first, if you had got them all right and sent it in last, you still could've won. It was the tie breaker question which gave Dawn the HOH position.

Trust your first instinct.

By the way, for the sake of
GO RANDOM (ignore that) passing time, here's a real difficult problem.
XY=X10+Y10+XY+100
X=?
Y=?
The winner gets:
APPLAUSE!!!

			X=-Y-10
Y=-X-10

 I got all the questions right for the HoH comp. Shame I can't win twice in a row.

Dang. You're smart. By the way, I've been looking for a way to solve this... I came up with it today, but couldn't explain how to get those answers without dumb luck. How did you arrive at your answer?
 the answer I was thinking of was X=Y+10 and Y=X+10. But they're basically the same thing.
 APPLAUSE FOR o_0!!!

			OMG, o_0 beat me to it!
I'll explain it for o_0 XD.
XY=X10+Y10+XY+100
there's XY on both sides, so you cancel it:
0 = X10 + Y10 + 100
Then you divide by ten on both sides.
0 = X + Y + 10
Then you can solve for Y and X. Therefore
-Y - 10 = X and
-X - 10 = Y

Actually Tested, it's not really the same thing XD. Because you'd have to negative the other side too.

			wow. two people already fimiliar with the problem.
and I thought I came up with it.
scary.
By the way, here's the "back-door" explanation I came up with when I "developed" the problem today. (using positives with adding.)
XY=XY+X10+Y10+100
(X+10)(Y+10)=XY+X10+Y10+100
Using the distributive property, this equals
XY+X10+Y10+100=XY+X10+Y10+100
(By the way, the distributive property shows that, for instance, 1(2+3) = 1*2+1*3)
Edit: By the way, technically, they are similar, because
1+1=2
is the same as
1-(-1)=2
and
(-1)-1=2

I'm confused now... I thought (-1)-1 = -2?? *sweatdrop*
Anyways, I used a simple solution and yours was more complex... ahh I don't understand this complicated math

. I'm only in grade 10!
