Was referred to this band from a friend of mine, said if I liked stuff like Iced Earth, Dragonforce or Epica, then I should look these guys up. Listened to Oceanborn and got hooked

I've been listening to Nightwish for awhile now, I love them ^^ another band to check out is Lacuna Coil (not as good as Nightwish imo but still good)

*pokes siggy* check teh forums (it's also a great band resource)

Nightwish recently kicked the lead singer out, because she was. Well. Awful.
So the band is looking for a replacement.

Lacuna coil > Nightwish

She wasn't 'awful', she just had some bad attitude problems and her priorities were sometimes in the wrong places (once she wanted to cancel a sold-out show in Oslo just go to see a movie with her friends).

On a happier note, I got a bunch of new songs. I like Where Were You Last Night, Swanheart, Angels Fall First, Symphony of Destruction...

I love Nightwish, have done for a long while now. *wears badges*

'Stargazers' is probably one of my favourite songs by them. 'Oceanborn' and 'Once' are my favourite albums by them.

Yeah, Nightwish certainly aren't underground, if they were underground, they couldn't fill huge arena like they have done.

The band decided that Tarja should leave the band, as she was more focused on her solo career than the band or something. I've read previously that she doesn't actually like the metal-esque sound of Nightwish. :/

Oh and I love Lacuna Coil a lot more than Nightwish, I've been championing Lacuna Coil for years now. But I don't think you can compare Nightwish and Lacuna Coil really, seeing as Nightwish have that operatic aspect to their music.

I agree with you, they're not comparable. I just like (or liked, well see what the replacement is like) Nightwish better due to the fact that some of Lacuna Coil's videos bug me they're crap.. lol I dunno it just brought my opinion of them down a notch.

Oh btw, thanks for the article I haven't been keeping up with the bands due to some VERY stress filled times. I didn't know Tarja was sacked

I have heard of them...I have few albums in my computer.My brother is a fan of them.They make quite good music..
