Skizzy, I can argue with you all day about how deluded you sound, but this is not the place. Once someone gives 100% dedication to a view, it's almost impossible to show them other than what they believe (which is sad). So, in essence, this arguement is dead.

I agree with Skizzy. Words can only hurt you if you let them. Example, if someone were to call me by say... the W word, should it hurt me? No, because I obviously know I'm not a prostitute, and besides, it'd probably make me laugh, considering what my favourite movie is and how many times I refer to myself by that particular word (I even have an LJ icon referring to myself as such).
Same goes for the B word. As Stephen King put it, sometimes being one is the only thing a woman has to hold on to ;P So yes, I am one, and am proud of it.
So yes, insults such as these can be thrown at me until the person doing the throwing is winded from it. But they won't bother me.
However, a single instance of being called useless or worthless (which are perfectly acceptable words) can bring me to tears, because that those things are true about me is one of my biggest fears.

I cuss. A lot. Online, offline, whatever. As long as it isn't banned you can sure as hell bet I'm gonna cuss XD

Yes, but not so much that it's annoying. I hate it when people use swear words unecessarily. Like, "She took the BLEEPing can of soda and poured it in the BLEEPing BLEEP of a BLEEP glass!"

I think you all are misinterpretting Skizzy. I think she means to say that swear words are just like any other words. They don't possess some sort of intrinsic evil. Words are just sounds and symbols. People give them their meaning.

That and words cannot physically harm you. Emotional pain is not the same as physical pain, not that I think that either should be taken lightly. However, one can learn to limit the amount of pain one feels from words. This is sort of like ethnic and other minority groups reclaiming derogatory terms used against them and use them as words of power.

I do swear a lot. I can't blame that on anyone but myself. I would rather not swear as much because I just feel really bad after I say it.

When I get hyped up I tend to swear often. Not every other word or anything like that though.

I'm trying not to cuss as much as I used to though so I tend to replace cuss words with their milder twin.....

Augh, I do that too when I'm around adults. It drives my grandma crazy, and she said she;d rather I used the actual words than such filthy replacements.So I did. That didn't go well. -_-

my views come from careful thought. i haven't heard a single convincing argument against my views on this matter. if you have one i'd love to hear it.

anyhow, I don't swear a lot, and when i do, it's usually in spanish.
