Green Day. They just rock. And if they go up against Madonna it will be a good battle!

Green Day I guess. I used to love them, but now it's verging on hate. Yet I can't hate them, Insomniac is one of my favourite albums. Yeah, I vote for them for that reason.

Green Day has been around a lot longer than anyone up there except Mariah Carey and maybe No Doubt, so they have a lot more music to like (or hate). I could name at least 10 songs by Green Day that I like-- I don't think I could even name ten songs period by anyone else up there. So I voted Green Day.

Here is my opinion: Green day is not punk. And their whole political phase sucks, they are overplayed, overrated.
Also, you are not a green day fan if the only album of theirs you picked up is "American Idiot".
Hypothetically, the american idiot falls for their commercialism and buys their NOT PUNK album.

I voted for Green Day, I like their music.

Eminem gets my vote.
Would have voted for Michael Jackson, if you guys would have put him in one of the polls.
o_O;;;

K. First, define punk for me. Tell me what band is REALLY punk.
I don't care about their political phase, they make music, I listen to it, I like it. I don't listen to the radio, thus its not overplayed for me. Any person that adopts another person's political beliefs because they wrote a song about it needs help.
I'm failing to understand your last sentence o_O Are you saying that because I own American Idiot, that I'm a victim of commercialism?

So... you're implying that Punk is the only thing that makes them good? Some of us think that punk music is terrible (I for one), and yet we like a few of their songs, because they're not punk.
Also, only a Green Day fan would by their "Non-Punk" album. If someone is not a fan, they won't buy it. You can't argue that.
Green Day either is or is not punk, there is no opinion. Either they are classified as punk or they're not. They may have an album that doesn't resemble punk, but that doesn't change the fact that they either are punk, or they aren't.
Hypothetically, a person buys what appeals to them and then people tend to gripe and try to explain the phenomena as something that it is not, because they don't agree with it.
Also, how does Eminem "tell it how it is"? I for one, am not seeing it in the slightest.

See, this is exactly why I don't put music into genres. Whats punk to someone isn't punk to someone else. I mean, I have heard Evanescence called pop, rock, goth, and
Christian.

Thick headed neo-political zombies, Green Day has turned the populus into.

Did you mean "The populus was turned into thick headed neo-political zombies by Green Day." ?
Sorry, but I don't see any evidence of that. Sure, theres alot of kids just getting into Green Day for the first time because of American Idiot, and sure, they're getting into politics because of it, and sure, they'll adopt Green Day's politics at first, but down the line I'm sure they'll grow up to be wonderful polititians with mohawks and black eyeliner.
