(Wasn't quite sure where to put this)
I am officially registered into YVCC. I talked to an instructor to help pick my classes, since a lot were already full and I had a few time conflicts with the ones I chose. The ASSET test also helped with the prerequisites. Classes will start January 3rd, 2006:
Hist 102 - Renaissance to Napoleon - 7:30am-8:20 a.m., Monday-Friday
"Political, social, economic, and cultural history of Europe from the Renaissance to 1815. Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENGL 101 or READ 101 or concurrent enrollment in ENGL 075 or DVREA 081, 082, or 083. Credit will be granted for either HM or SS, but not both."
Art 120 - Traditions of Art - 9:30a.m.-10:20a.m., Monday-Friday
"An introduction to world art traditions. The course will examine the nature of artistic traditions, how cultures are revealed by their artworks, how artists work within cultural traditions, and how traditions continue and are changed by contact with other traditions. The artistic traditions of the following areas will be examined: Africa; India and Southeast Asia; China and Japan; Arabia; Oceania; pre-Columbia and First Peoples; Greece and Rome; medieval and Renaissance Europe; absolutist and revolutionary art of the West; and industrial and post-industrial culture. Prerequisite: ENGL 075"
Art 101 - Design I - 10:30a.m-12:20p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
"Introduction to the development of two-dimensional design processes. Emphasis is on the art elements (line, shape, value, space, texture, color) and visual problem-solving. "
These classes give me about 14 credits, since my financial aid requires 13. Tuition goes at about $840.60, and I only need two books for two classes and the one is just art supplies.
