Frazetta? The same Frazetta who drew the orcs as obese piggy bearded men with thongs? The same Frazetta who drew Eowyn wearing a metal bikini armor set with buttfloss backing? (And with this, you HAD to imagine it as a legit Dernhelm disguise.... which means the rest of the Riders of Rohan would have to wear the same thing...)

Well, dang, no wonder I didn't like the design on the White Witch!

Yup he went so far as to say it wasn't really an allegory because it was meant to be exactly the story of Jesus in a form that children could read and appreciate which would help their understanding of the "real" story.

I never said any such thing-

Well, you have to remember that when C.S. Lewis wrote the books, he wrote it as an allegory

Umm.. I was talking about CS Lewis, not you. I thought that was kinda obvious after the way SpiraLethe's post was worded :o

WHOA.

I saw this movie last Sunday, and all I can say is WHOA.

The movie was way better than I expected it to be. I went mostly to see the Pirates of the Caribbean 2 trailer on the big screen ( :D ), but ended up very glad that I had experienced the masterpiece that is this movie. It was sad, moving, and beautiful (and accented by the score by Harry Gregson-Williams, which I advise you all to get as it's gorgeous). I was crying from the beginning until the end - it was beautiful. And I hope they make more. This is possibly the best live-action Disney movie ever.

What the heck? It's a commonly known thing that C.S. Lewis incorporated Christians stories into the Chronicles of Narnia. He even said so. It's not a debate. He also wrote a lot of other religious works. Quite a Christian philosopher, he was.

Odd, considering he once was a staunch atheist. Hey hum.

You're both right. He started out as an atheist, but became Christian late in his life.

Yes, I know.

I wasn't contradicting Spira, merely stating that it's a bit odd. Though I guess there's no reason it should be.

Heheh, I was thinking that too! But it's not the movie's fault, they just happen to have the same mascot. ;)

I saw it just before Christmas, and was blown away. I started crying within about 5 minutes, probably. :P

I'm so glad it was done well, because the Chronicles have always been some of my favourite books, and I would have hated to have so many expectations for this film that weren't fulfilled...but they all were, and more.

I also felt slightly sad as also within the first 5 minutes or so, I was thinking, "Wow, I need this soundtrack..." :P

Er, anyway. I think the little bits that were taken out were virtually unnoticable, and the bits added made sense and helped improve the film. Really, I'm still at the point I can't say enough good things about it...though I would like to see it again, from a better seat. (I was in the front row, and while it was quite a good distance back, I still had to slouch, which I hate.)

I saw it again yesterday.

One thing I noticed this time that I didn't notice before (and kinda liked) was Jadis' icicle crown. It starts off as those towering icicles but then as the movie progresses and her power weakens, the icicles get shorter and shorter and at the final battle, she doesn't have any at all.

I think they were trying too hard to be like LOTR... :x I didn't like the movie that much, and I did read the book. :\
