I have often wondered if the Daily Show's tagline was correct. Do more people get their news from them then they probably should?

I, myself, actually used to watch them regularly, but not any more. I also used to read the newspaper a lot, but not any more. Nowadays, I get my news from two sources: the internet (CNN.com, MSNBC.com), and Countdown with Keith Olbermann (8 EST/5 PST, M-F on MSNBC).

Most people I talk to get their news from the internet, magazines or Daily Show. It makes me wonder, where do PPTers get their news?

Note: I am just asking for your primary source of news. There is no political reasoning behind this question, so please don't take it that way.

PS: I tried to make the options as general as possible since I don't know information systems outside of the US.

Normally I know what's going on in the world 'cause my dad's complaining about it.

Yahoo, New York Times website, and the Daily Show/Colbert Report when I have the time to watch.

I get my news mostly from CNN.com or hear it from friends and family since I rarely read the newspaper and only watch few select shows on tv. :)

Conan, The Daily Show, and I occasionally watch The Colbert Report (If I have time for them). :P

I used to watch NBC National News at 5:30 with my parents, but the news has been sooo depressing lately. (I mean...for at least 5 years) I'll occasionally flip through the news channels (except Fox News ), glance at the newspaper, or check cnn.com to see if there is any breaking news. It's much better to watch it on a satire program where they make fun of the news though :P. Jon Stewart is love. <3

We get Newsweek and I read it occasionally too.

I am really not surprised with the number of Daily Show/Colbert Report answers I am seeing. They are good shows, but not real news shows (sadly). I think that Jon Stewart is the greatest newsman of for the 18-late 20's demographic. I never watch him since I like [AS] more.

Countdown is good for my news fix with their Oddball (weird news reports and wacky video), Worst Person in the World, and 'stories [Keith's] producers force [him] to do' as the comedy fix. Whenever Keith is forced to talk abut a story (usually involving celebraties or topics that are really stupid), Keith always gets a satirist on the show to discuss the topic (usually Micheal Musto, Harry Shear, or Mo Rocca). Keith is also a huge Simpsons fan and constantly makes references to the show. He once got Harry Shear to do commentary as Mr Burns

Nightly News. I normally don't look at news sites.
All my weird news comes from TVU's Ten Most Wanted.

Mainly the internet. If something important happens, everyone talks about it long before the news here picks up on it. I have to watch TV and read the paper for most general NZ news.

Newspaper primarily...

I catch bits of information from the news on TV when I eat too, although I usually don't pay it too much attention. And I usually scan the front pages of internet sites that have news (MSN and others). But newspaper primarily xD.

The Daily Show, BBC World News, and the various 24-hour networks when they're on in the room I'm in. I also check out online news services and read the paper. I always watch the first two I mentioned, and that's where I get most of my news.

I seem to remember some study that said Daily Show viewers were better informed than people who watch regular nightly news shows. It's not that surprising when you think about how humor can help you remember things. :)

I get mine from the Internet and local news shows, which here are on at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm. Sometimes the national nightly news and morning shows.
