Man, I really hope they sign this deal soon. I've been hoping for it to go through for so long now.



I'm not that fussed about the Simpsons either. Luckily, Futurama will be on Cartoon Network until 2009, and then Comedy Central until 2014. (TBS also shows Futurama, but I'm not really sure of the terms of their deal.)

Well, in older news (Not really old, from Dec. 21), it says that Matt Groening and David X Cohen are hoping it will return... At the Berkeley thing I went to with Jeff Westbrook (Futurama) and Ken Keeler (Futurama/Simpsons), they didn't mention anything about its return, but said there would be a movie, but that they couldn't say anything else. (David X Cohen was going to be there at the lecture but didn't make it)

Surprisingly enough, I'm not bored with Simpsons. There was a time when it went down (probably seasons 11-14 mostly) but I think it's (the quality of the episodes) going up again. It still is one of the most consistently funny shows on TV. Even though it's not as good as it used to be, it's still better than about 90% of network TV. And it is one of the few good shows on Fox that hasn't been cancelled and probably one of the longest-running shows ever. Still, it's my favorite show. And I think it's only supposed to go for 19 seasons until 2008, because that's when the movie is.

Even though I like Simpsons and a few other shows on Fox (The O.C., maybe American Idol occasionally), I don't understand why they create new shows that are BAD (Stacked, Life On a Stick, Quintuplets, The War At Home-although luckily these were cancelled, except war at home) and cancel the few good ones (Anyone remember Cracking Up with Molly Shannon? I loved that. It lasted what, 4 episodes? And remember Wonderfalls? And of course, Futurama and Family Guy. And Arrested Development.). It just makes you wonder if they really know what they're doing.

The new president of the Fox network seems to have some warm fuzzy feelings about Futurama, so I'm getting quite optimistic.

"New Season of Futurama in The Works"

"Following on from our report two months ago regarding four direct-to-dvd Futurama movies being greenlit, Billy West has now unofficially confirmed that these have been put on the backberner in favour of 26 brand new episodes, meaning that Futurama as we know may well be back in business the same way Family Guy was revived last year."

He says that the original plan was to have the movies first, but now they are expecting the episodes to come out first. I don't know if it's two seasons of 13 episodes, or one huge season of 26 episodes. Since it's coming out before the movies, I hope it comes out this fall, or next January at the latest! It probably won't though, since it hasn't been officially confirmed by David X. Cohen, Matt Groening, or Fox, and because the episodes generally take at least 6 months to make. Funny how it took so long, you'd think it would be more popular than Family Guy! I mean, there were (and still are) more episodes of Futurama and it took longer for Fox to cancel it. But yay...news!

Come on Fox, confirm it already! Actually, there's no news about what station it's going to be on, I just assumed Fox. I'm glad it's coming back because I've seen almost all of the episodes now, thanks to Netflix and Adult Swim. Just half of season 3 and most of season 4 left to watch!

Wow! I loved Futurama when I was in 4th grade (Such a long time ago T_T), and I'm really glad to see that it's coming back!

:| Meh...if it ever does come back, I hope Fox learns their lesson and gives them a good, steady timeslot. Not Sundays at 7 or Tuesdays or whatever else they did. Sundays at 8:30 is good. I still don't understand how Futurama, Arrested Development, and other good shows get cancelled, and yet some of their new shows are still going, like The War at Home or Free Ride.

Of course, some shows I like are still on and haven't been cancelled (Simpsons just got renewed for at least 2 more years, I like King of the Hill ok - that got renewed, Family Guy, but it was better before it was cancelled, American Idol, OC- should be cancelled now). But seriously, Fox doesn't know what they want...they won't even license their programs to iTunes because they don't think it'll make enough money. That's what it all comes down to, money.

Kay...to end that rant, I'm sure all this Futurama publicity is helping. They've been saying it would come back last May too after Family Guy came back, but still.

This is old news, and I'm sure you already know this, but around the end of October last year, Comedy Central bought the rights to the show for $400,000 per episode. (Source) The Adult Swim contract expires in December 2007 which means that syndicated episodes of Futurama won't air on Comedy Central until at least January 2008. At this point, I don't care how many episodes they produce or when they'll be out as long as there will be new episodes again.

Fox will be sorry!

Supposedly, Comedy Central ordered 13 more episodes (to premiere in 2008) . The source is the New York Post, so it should be true!

Another confirmation

Hmm...I hope the seasons are longer than 13 episodes though. I know the next one will be 13 episodes because they're probably testing it (like seeing how many viewers they can get and what time works best), but the seasons of South Park on Comedy Central are generally 14-18 episodes. I hope Futurama has more episodes! If not, eh... I won't complain. At least it's coming back!

Edit: Actually, it seems like the "new episodes" on CC will really be the direct-to-dvd movies being shown on TV. There are going to be 4 dvds split into 4 episodes each, for a total of 16 episodes.
