I've spent ages getting to the Haunted Woods, Cerise. And this is my third time playing! My last playthrough took over 80 days, I think, because it does get tedious and I play in small chunks of time--an hour here and there on weekends, and if I have time on weekdays I'll play up to half an hour. I'd say my overall actual playing time is well over 20 hours, and that's a really conservative estimate. But that's on Evil. On Normal, I took over a year to finish.
Don't feel inadequate. Remember there are slowboes like me, and even the slowboes can finish eventually, and feel better about the fact that you're not taking months to finish.

Thanks for reassuring my slowness
In other news, I finally beat the game on Normal about two days ago, and restarted on Evil. I dont remember exactly what it was like my first time through Meridell, but this time around I seem to be constantly near death. I know that Evil is harder, but I feel like Im doing something wrong. Maybe its because I'd been used to having a surplus of healing supplies + Velm, and so now it makes me uneasy to be using my Healing Flasks and Vials at an incredible rate. When I beat Terask II on Normal, I still had twenty of everything from 170 to 60 HP healers.
Basically, Im curious as to how I should ration my healing supplies in Evil. I was perfectly fine, up until I stopped at White River and continued into the cave. I'm at level 9 currently, and the monsters in there are pushing me down into the yellow and red in just a few fights. It feels like Im using healing supplies faster than Im getting them. I absolutely dont want to waste everything before I get to Zombom and Im dreading the Eyrie Spectres. Meridell feels harder than Faerieland, and its driving me crazy o_o Am I hideously underleveled or something?

I'm currently on Terror Mountain on Evil difficulty and I agree, Meridell felt stupidly hard. I fought Zombom at about level eleven, I think- it was incredibly boring leveling up around White River and in the entrance to the cave for ages, but it did make it a lot easier when I got to fighting him. So far Evil is a lot more tedious than Normal in terms of having to faff about leveling up for ages rather than being able to practically go straight from boss to boss. Oh, and watch out for Tower on a Hill, those wockies are even worse.

Everything before Zombom is a total pain in the rear. All I can reccomend is my strategy:
Level to 9 in the cave, go back, fully restock on the basic potions. Avoid using the potions that only the monsters drop, you will NEED those for Zombom. Head to the tower on normal mode, and gain any remaining levels in the tower, heading back to restock on the lower potions when needed. Always go on normal mode through the cave at this point. Once you are the proper level, Agian, head back and fully restock on the basic potions. By this time you should have ammased a decent amount of the stronger potions. Take on Zombom, and KEEP YOUR HEALTH ABOVE 32. If you have enough higher potions, you'll be fine.
Reccomended levels: Normal: 10-11. Evil: 11-12. Insane: 12-13.
