Great, another one of these arguments. Let me guess "DOWN WITH CENSORSHIP!", right? Get over it...
There's censorship and then there's
censorship. I'm personally not a big fan of China's idea of the word, but when it comes to censoring words you wouldn't what to say in front of Grandma it's fine in my book.

BTW, shouldn't the occasional dubbleyou-tee-eff (spelled out like that, or some other variant) be treated just like the abbreviations? They're absolutely no different, except longer, so I don't see why they should be any different. I doubt that if I posted that, that it would be given a second thought. Of course, they'd probably have to be manually altered since they're too inconsistant to grab with a filter.
It gets hazy when it comes to abbreviations because the person posting doubleyou-tee-ef or something as such could have an entirely different view on what it means than the reader.
A person could be trying to abbreviate the World Taekwondo Federation and the filter turns it into "I guess I'm going to have to call the
what the heck and see if they really are a governing body."
How about someone creates a board in the polls section and asks people to post their initials. Along comes William Timothy Farnell and quotes the main post which contained the posters initials and now below all it says is "what the heck". Ol' Tanya Uma Renee Dunlap now thinks William is making fun of her and thus ensues a flame war.
The possibilities are endless.
