At about five o' clock English time today, my little hamster had to be put down. :( This is the second time in a row that a hamster has had this done. She deteriorated very quickly, in less than a week, and couldn't get up when she heard my voice. There was also a lump on the side of her head and we think she had a tumour or an abscess, or something.
The vet took her out of the house and I got to say goodbye, whilst crying my eyes out. I'm going to miss her loads. Sorry if this sounds whiny, since practically none of you even know I had a hamster!
Um, thanks for reading?

I won't get hamsters anymore because their lifespan is 1 1/2 years to 2 years. It's hard having any pet die

Yes, as BeDeviled said, hamsters are tough to have as pets because they don't last long. When I was younger, we had a few of them and something always happened to them. They are not very lucky creatures.

Aww, that's awful

I'm so sorry....
-snif- I'll always remember her as the purple hamster in your display pic.....

Thanks everybody. :) It's slightly better but I'm not going to get over this in a few hours. It's terrible that they live such short lives (Toffee was only one year and nine months), but they are a great pleasure when they are alive. Cassie, the other hamster that was put down February last year, lived to two and a half years. Which is... whoa. Long.
Thanks again for all your sympathy. It does help.

Goodbye Toffee, I know I knew on MSN before but again, goodbye. I'll miss pretending to eat you when Liv didn't answer me, then she would scream at me and so on. Bye bye Toffee.

I'm so sorry about your loss

Losing a hamster is like losing a cat or a dog. It still really hurts and some people do think you're being whiny or immature for crying about it. Stupid people...
