If MI loses(which seems pretty probable), I'll switch to FL since they would be the team that beat us.

And Octochan that is a good question, I was actually wondering myself

It just so happens TNT already fudged the first part, where we could switch teams before Round 1 and then they switched some back and forth so much they are no longer on the team they originally "chose" or even wanted to "have to" now root for. Either way, of course we all want to go through all rounds to the finals and get the biggest prize, but since the beginning I thought this highly unlikely, even though it seems the best intention. Seems more likely we would all shift around, losing at least a game or so and picking the next best team, until we all get to the finals.

If the scoring really works that way, I just don't think there will be too many "winners" but since we can all go to the finals and get prizes just for participating, I don't see too many losers either. I can't wait until they divulge just how the scoring is working. All this time I felt a creepy bug. :P

Yes, theoretically, it could have happened, there wasn't some filter preventing too many people from signing up for one team. It's irrelevant if people are unlikely to choose one team because the possibility is still there. That's why it was a theory, it's possible, and it doesn't have to be probable.

Also, it's a shame that Neopets messed up yet another thing involving many Neopet's users, but that's just unfortunate that they are now on different teams.

I'm glad you thought it highly unlikely that your team would make it to the final round because in a tournament where they weight the number of wins/losses instead of going strictly by the amount of wins/losses, there is still only about a 1/16 chance of making it to the finals on your original team. My original point was that letting teams with massive amounts of supporters getting an uneven advantage would stack the odds toward those popular teams, and the finals would come down to the two most popular teams.

The problem wouldn't be a low number of winners, it would be a high number of winners because there were more on the winning team than other teams. I'd much rather win a prize that is either rare because less people won it, and/or one that I had to do my part on a team to win.

anjuna wrote:This whole setup is somewhat frustrating. Say for instance in Round 1 my team won but I did not have confidence they would win against the new team they are up against for Round 2. So I switch since I feel the other team might go to the finals. So how do we choose? If I win in Round 1, I should be confident to stay on that team throughout, but what if I am not? What if I think that same team that just won will NOT make it to finals? o_O

You wouldn't have any trouble with confidence if all the scoring was by % of supporters for a team because you wouldn't have any clue how close to a win or a loss you are in a round. Also, that fear could push people to do their best no matter who they're up against.

Did you find the Grarrl that changes window position hourly and drink punch in the proper sequence? :roflol: Just kidding. Would be funny if we had to go through something like that just to get into the arena though.

Since nothing else is going on, let me take this opportunity to say that I find the combination of the Disco Ixi and a business suit VERY disturbing somehow. I've been refreshing the news page sporadically, and I just can't handle him. (not a fan of disco colours in general, but anthropomorphized disco is an extra-big no-no in my world)

Well it is hard to talk about "wins" when we don't know the scoring. Part of competition IS the nature of unfairness. Otherwise, no one could lose.

When I referred to The Win, I meant more the final "being on the winning team all the way down the line" as stated in the elusive article on the web.

But just because a team is "popular" does not mean they are well-performing either. You could have tons of poor players not scoring as well as an unpopular team with a few highly skilled players. Who knows how it will go? I for one hope we don't have to wait until 10PM for a News update.

EDIT: And part of being "popular" almost should encourage a team to win. Otherwise, loyalty is lost, weakening the team as a whole and team spirit. I am torn, since I was forced on a team I didn't choose, but played so well on it, I figure I may as well keep that strength present for the whole.

Then there is the matter of me scoring 13 wins for Faerieland before I was switched back and forth to Maraqua, Faerieland, then Maraqua again. At one point the score table had the Faerieland logo then it all changed to Maraqua, so I don't know what team those scores count toward. Furthermore, I can use the URL trick to play as any team I wish, and my wins for those still count toward whatever team it shows on the scores.phtml page. I hope they not only sort this out, but explain it to us.

The popular lands drew more supporters, and when people lose in this round, most of them will be drawn to popular teams. The less popular teams take more of a hit from bad players (still assuming they're going by amount), and they will have bad players. But with statistics, there might be the same percentage of bad players on a popular team. But my original point was that I didn't want the team scoring based on pure numbers, and it sounds like you're now assuming it will be by percentage. If an unpopular team with most of it's supporters being good go against a popular team with most of it's supporters being bad/inactive, and that unpopular team won, then that would be a win based on percentage. There wouldn't be a team small enough to out power a team like Darigan based on numbers because even with a mediocre percentage of Darigan suppoters sending wins, they would still be enough to win.

Edit: In this case popularity would help because you'd get more active people sending scores.

I am assuming nothing except this whole business is buggy and skewed.

hurry, since this may be our last chance to see them for a loooong time, the news will be posted soon!

It took me way too long to get that losing shot: the Jelly Team kept passing the ball to my goalie.

And I love how they all cluelessly staring at the ball as I walk away. Occasionally, the opposite team will all slam into me after I score, but more often than not, this happens:

Geez the Terror Mtn. "eskimo" outfits are the best looking, in my opinion. Both in the game and in the Flash animations.

Sure wish I had a get-up like that for real life, lol. Looks warm and classy.

Always loved Taelia and the Igloo Garage Sale, too. If they somehow manage to beat Darigan, I might be tempted to switch for cuteness alone, even thought I racked up quite a few scores already for Faerieland and/or Maraqua (no telling due to the weird glitch earlier on).

These are the... fifth and sixth screen shots I have ever taken and first I've posted so bear with them
