I have over 14,000 volcanic rocks in my SDB, and they still cost 1np.
I get bored buying them too.

Citation? (i'm curious, not attacking :))

I found something in the FAQ of terms and conditions which seemed to fit the bill.

Q. My friends and I have been purchasing all the Dr. Sloth Costumes and then jacking up the price. Is that okay?
A. No, you cannot conspire with others to corner the market in an item and then artificially raise the price. This is called price fixing which violates Neopets' Terms and Conditions. If we detect this, we will either freeze all the players involved in the conspiracy or delete all the items they are hoarding. However, in anticipation of a war or other event, you can, by yourself, purchase unlimited quantities of an item in the expectation the price will rise. This is called price speculation, which is fine.

This proves that the original proposal is completely okay. If you want to work alone to purchase unlimited quantities of an item, that's okay. Of course, I wouldn't choose a cheery plant myself. But there's nothing illegal about it.

Odd--some friends and I just gathered a substantial number of volcanic rocks (we decided on a whim to stage a volcanic eruption at the Money Tree). By the time we had bought up a couple thousand, we were getting many more hits on shops that had them for 2np each. I suspect it's because our purchases came in a rapid surge, while yours were presumably more spread out.

Cheery plants are really cute though!

Right I get it now anyway, I can do it by myself, but not if I encourage other people to do it. Fair enough! Thank you everyone for you help :)

Back when tigersquash corn dogs were in the newbie pack, my brother tried to corner the market on them. He could get the price to spike to 25np, but they would always drop back down.

The point being: any freebie item that sells for 1 np is 1 np because they are being constantly generated and have no real value. You could buy every last palm fan in Neopia, and two weeks later they would be back down to 1 np.

I collect Number Six Plushies (Advent prize). My idea is to sell them in 20 years :P
