Does anyone here remember the show Sheep in the Big City?

Again, if you say 'I hate anime', you will have your throat ripped out by those that don't. There is no sarcasm in you having not seen anime, and once more, how do you even know if the story doesn't thrill you if you have never watched it. It's like children with vegetables.

Sheep in the Big city is a mere 5 years old. So naturally I remember it. Bleh. Another show attempting to be random.

So BACK IN THE DAY I used to watch Postman pat, Fireman Sam, Rainbow, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles (UK name), Captain Planet (hells yeah), Superted, Ruper the Bear, X-Men cartoons (the original one), Spider Man Cartoons, Sesame Street... and so on...Poddington Peas.

Atm I love Fairly Odd Parents, though some of the humour seems really over the heads of the kiddy audience- I think that's intentional, to entertain both the makers and the parents.

I remember being obsessed with the Powerpuff Girls, Rugrats, and Blue's Clues when I was younger. My family tells me that I used to watch Barney ALL the time, but I don't remember watching Barney at all - I think I was too little to remember. I still watch little kids shows sometimes if there's nothing else on (I still enjoy Blue's Clues :P), but a lot of the little kids shows honestly scare me. The Wiggles, Teletubbies, and many other shows that are similar to those, bother me so much I can hardly stand to watch them. I just think everything that goes on during the shows are stupid and have no point to them (especially the Teletubbies - they just talk nonsense) or it's frightening. I know if I was a little kid and I saw a show like the Wiggles I wouldn't have enjoyed it at all.

1. I'm a guy.

2. I'm hardly a "Japanophile" as I'm hardly in the anime scene, and don't even watch them that often. It doesn't take someone who's obsessed with anime to realize that someone is making an illogical generalization. I could have not watched anime in my entire life, and made the same connection.

3.
foolish - Immoderate or stubborn; unreasonable: foolish pride; foolish love.

It's not okay that I think it's unreasonable to group everything under the same label? It's like saying "I hate people from [insert place here]". Is that not putting everyone in a single group, yet knowing that all people are different?

4. You made a rant thread, with the intent to rant. People aren't supposed to disagree?

---

I've seen Sheep in the Big City a few times, but I don't watch Nick, so naturally I haven't seen it too often (I've seen it on a friend's television a few times).

Rugrats and Doug... those were awesome when they weren't expanded and turned into other horrid things. x_x (All Grown Up? Ugh...)

Thank you, Igg! I forgot all about the X-Men and Spiderman cartoons. There was a Superman cartoon as well. I remember watching Garfield and Friends and Heathcliff, too. :) Now, those were good shows. The Cartoon Express on the USA channel had a lot of good shows, too. (I think they were mostly Hanna Barbara). Some of my favorites were Monchichis, Clue Club, Speed Buggy, and Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch. I can't believe we haven't mentioned Scooby Doo (without Scrappy, of course lol). Disney had some good cartoons, too, like Gummi Bears, Talespin, Rescue Rangers, and Duck Tales. It's funny that even now, my friends and I find ourselves singing the Gummi Bears song. lol Packman an the Snorks were decent, but Tim doesn't like the Snorks. He says they creep him out. haha Some other good oldies we watched all the time are the Flinstones, the Jetsons, Yogi Bear, and Captain Caveman. :) We watched the Smurfs a lot, too, but they were a bit much for me. lol

They just don't make cartoons like they used to. <3

Urg, Inuyasha is so overrated. But yeah, all of Miyazaki's stuff are masterpieces. :)

And I miss Animaniacs, that was my favorite. Had tons of catchy songs too.

I loved Sheep in the Big City xD it pulled off randomness well in my opinion. You just gotta love the name "General Specific" and The Ranting Swede. It only lasted for, like, a year, and nobody ever seems to notice it, which is why I asked if anyone ever heard of it. Before I found its page on Wikipedia, I almost thought I'd dreamed it.

Animaniacs absolutely ROCKED :D I really need that DVD set, badly. The songs are so catchy. And, as much as I hate to say it, educational :D -- oh, come on, you can't say something is "fun and educational" without making it sound preachy, but it /was/. Hilarious.

All Grown Up! is an insult to my brain.

Oh, yeah. I remember Sheep in the Big City. I'd generally watch it if there was nothing else on I liked.

And whatever happened to Robot Jones? The show. Whatever Happened To Robot Jones?. Shortest show ever. o_o

Animaniacs was great too. I had all sorts of workbooks my dad bought me that involved them. And Tiny Toon Adventures! <3 Plus Kablam! and Oh Yeah! Cartoons. The latter got me hooked to the Fairly Odd Parents.

Robot Jones was really good, as well as Tiny Toons. :) Another of our favorites was Samurai Jack. <3 It's too bad that show just stopped and didn't get an ending. :(

I love the art in Samurai Jack. 'Always a visual treat.

I miss the action cartoons that used to be on in the afternoons and weekends (X-Men, Spiderman, etc). I still watch Batman once in a while (Cartoon Disney, or something like that, shows it late at night).

That was so infuriating. It wins the Emmy, beating Futurama and Simpsons, then disappears. I hope Lazzo got many, many angry letters for that injustice :x

I hate Billy and Mandy. I hate it with a burning passion reserved only for the most vile of shows. I hate it almost as much as I hate Inuyasha.

But yeah, Rocko needs to make a comeback. That show was brilliant. Oh, and Fairly Odd Parents is the best ever!

"Dangit! This map sucks! I can't find American anywhere. All I see is 'Usa'!"

Fri Jul 28, 2006 4:04 am

My favorite cartoon of all time was Rocko's Modern Life. It still airs on the Nicktoons Network if you have that channel, along with other great shows that got cancelled (like Invader Zim).
