Geek/Nerd Definition - Help please!

In my school (Its a middle school 6th grade to 8th grade) people usually call nerds those who are smart, unattractive and also weird. I'm not sure if it's the right defenition, but a lot of people seem to think that way.

Beat me to the definitions...oh well...I find the word, techinically both mean about the same thing of what I see.

Oh, I never call people names or anything unless they do something totally mean to me or someone else to deserve it, so I never use those words unless in jest with friends.

I always thought a nerd was someone who was book smart, and knew a lot about useful things.

A geek was something specific, like band geek for instance. (Yeah, I'm totally just pulling that out of no where...lol. :roll:

) Band geeks really like being in band, and it takes up a lot of their time.

I am proud to be both.

Geek: Rare mega insult used to describe me.
Nerd: Frequent middling insult used to describe me.
(I add I personally don't think either apply well.)

I don't call people nerds or geeks, so I don't have my own definition. But by popular definition in my school, I'm a big nerd and I'm proud

Geek: A usually secluded person, who is often very intelligent and unappreciated. Tends to obsess over things, and might not be the perfect student but gets good grades.

Nerd: Mostly the same, but gets all good grades, makes inventions, and tends to obsess with Star Trek and stuff. Also tends to have less friends.

When I think of a geek, I think of a computer geek, but it can also mean someone who's just knowledgeable and specialized in any area. For nerd, I think of someone who studies a lot and is especially into math and science.

Geek: Someone who spends 24/7 on a computer and obsesses over games like Counter-Strike.
Nerd: Someone at school who is too smart and needs to go to a school for their kind of people instead of rubbing it in our faces how smart they are.
