Ok, anjuna, that makes more sense!

You know, we still don't know why Hoban says, "Yeah. Let's see you laugh when I sail you into a storm." Do we? I don't think so.

reading it sounds like "stole a ship from." Any missing ships?

i think your right with the last part being "ship from", will probably not help us with the plot one bit but am still curios to see what it says

I'm pretty sure it says "mysteriousshipfrom". You can't really see the "my" part of "mysterious", and the "f" in "from" is cut off.

Not on wheel of excitement. I won 64 np.

Mystery Prize - You only win 64 Neopoints... oh well, better luck next time!

Interesting theory...It would definitely make this whole thing harder to figure out.

I agree. We might want to keep that in mind when we hear Linae's side of the story, in Kentari's chapter Hoban remarked that (s)he said he was a bad omen so that might bias Linae's opinion.

Also, Kentari could be lying. If someone pushed Hoban overboard, then one of the shipmate's stories will be false. He might have seen the chef in the weapons room, but he could just be trying to throw you off. Kentari admits to being the first to leave the dining room that night, so he really could of gone anywhere and done anything.

On another note, am I the only one who found it strange that Orrin waited until well after the storm to say he saw someone fall overboard? According to Kentari, it wasn't until someone wondered where Hoban was that Orrin brought it up; I would think that someone falling overboard would be of the upmost importance, and you'd try to let the captain know as soon as possible.

This is starting to sound like a whodunit mystery...maybe it is.

In chapter 1, you can see Hoban standing on board when all of the provisions, barrels and such, are going overboard. So perhaps Hoban decided it was a good time to jump, to grab onto something that floats.

I was wondering if Hoban is really a female (someone found out and said it was a bad omen?); on pirate ships females were considered bad luck to have on board.

I'm pretty sure Hoban's a boy; Linae said Hoban was a bad omen because he mentioned sailing into a storm right before they actually did.

The pink kougra is a girl however.

I hope so. I love the classic mystery stories where you follow along and try to figure it out yourself. Nothings as fun as playing detective.

Wed Aug 09, 2006 4:34 am

The bad omen refers to what he said earlier about sailing them into a storm. It makes no sense for Hoban to have to hid his gender if he were a girl wtih there being neon pink female kougra as part of the cew.

Kentari

the captain says in one of the new passages:
"Very well. I'll ask you to speak to Kentari, then. He is the weapons vendor aboard this vessel. He also provides security, which is why I think it wise to speak to him first. You'll find him off the port bow... though, I'm not quite sure what he's doing there, exactly."

Could he maybe "fishing" for something? He is using a spear so maybe a map of sorts?
