I'd like to see it sometime soon, but I'll probably have to wait a while, what with school starting. But still. SNAKES ON A PLANE!

LOL. You went to a movie called Snakes on a freaking Plane for the plot!? (sorry, I found that hilarious) I see a career in the movie critic business (Roeper, anyone?). With that said, you ruined the movie for yourself.

Let me quote from a blog from a guy that pretty much knows what he's talking about when he says:

Most importantly you need to have the ability to suspend your disbelief. Suspension of disbelief is the key to this movie. You should have the following mantra going through your head at all times, "stop thinking stop thinking stop thinking".

"Wait, did that snake have a full set of teeth?" - stop thinking
"How the heck did that..." - stop thinking!
"Now wait a second, that's just stup..." - STOP THINKING DANG IT!

There were plot holes big enough to fly a 747 through, some of the most spectacularly bad acting ever seen, and I couldn't have loved it more.

You can't go into a movie with a name like "Snakes on a Plane" and sit there thinking about things that are obviously not supposed to be a big part of the movie. It's like going to a ballet and getting ticked because there wasn't enough guns or explosions.

Prretty much on the ball. Hhaa.
Of course during the movie you must ditch all that thoughtness out the window. Watch the movie for what it is. Snakes on a plane. And you have to love it. There is absolutely no reason you can't.

Which by the way, the fact you complained about a plot, amanda, must've meant you actually tried to follow it (err... search?). Defeating the true purpose of this masterpiece. Clearly this movie was a B-script movie that probably half-way through the read. "EHhhh... this isn't going to work. You know what, lets just go crazy and finish it up."

It was great. Me and the friends watched it, went to In-n-Out. Then spent the next hour just talking about the hilarity about it. It was great. My friend summed up the movie quite well. Tis on me LJ if you want to take a gander.

Also got a new phrase in the works... Snakes on a Plane. Mm. Genius.

Why is everyone calling this a horror movie? I thought it was a comedy! I was cracking up the whole time. Omg, when the snooty British man threw the Paris Hilton clone's lapdog at the giant snake... I laughed until I cried.

Originally, it was supposed to be a serious horror movie (yeah, oxymoron) but then after realizing "Wow, this idea is stupid" and that they had so many people giving them ideas (and all of the buzz because of the name on the internet), they basically turned it into a movie "for the people". Almost every aspect of the movie was created by the ideas of fans (the scene with the two people in the bathroom, the guy in the restroom, the dog? All things added to the movie that weren't there to begin with), and it's even the peoples' doing that the rating is "R" instead of "PG-13". Now, after realizing how stupid the idea was and then editting it to what the people want, they ended up creating a horror movie, based basically on every horror cliche you can think of (the people, the situation, even the plot [what little there is of it] is cliche of action movies), which end up being hilarious. So basically it's about 1/4 horror and 3/4 comedy now. So it's technically both comedy and horror (though it's not scary at all, just a little gross at parts)

Apparently, it's a huge deal because very rarely do the people have so much input on how the movie is made, and people think that it may be some kind of beacon to other directors that the people should be able to make the movie what they want (though, I seriously doubt it will do so much as change a single big-shot's mind, but it's the closest thing so far, I guess).

THAT I didn't know.

I knew about Jackson's line in the film that was supposedly added in at the fan's request. I just thought it was drawing such a following because of name and all of the internet parodies that followed. As long as the movie didn't take itself seriously, it could be comedic gold.

That explains a lot though....and why I was told to see the movie sooner rather than later while people will still go to it.

How.....gory is it and how realistic is said gore? That's the one thing that makes me a little anxious about the whole thing. I really don't watch horror films and I never have in the theaters.

I don't think I'm going to see this one.

I hate reptiles, I cry when I get forced into the reptile house at the zoo.... yes, I am pathetic.

There was a commentary on MSNBC.com about the movie title and how it's kinda dumbing down people. Then they made a mock list of possible sequels.

Some were ‘Meerkats on a Boat,' ‘Badgers on a Hovercraft,' ‘Wasps on a Space Station.' It was a funny commentary. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14247242/

Well... There are some pretty gory parts, but for the most part it's as fake as Michael Jackson's face. Most of is it is people getting bitten by snakes and basically what they look like once the snakes' venom takes it's toll (bulging veins, foaming from mouth or other parts of the body, swelling, that sort of thing.) There are a couple of parts that are just sort of... there. Like a guy that gets knocked to the floor at the beginning of the snake panic, and this head gets stepped on by a woman wearing high-heels. Of course, the heel breaks off and lodges into his head. There are other parts, usually when people are being flung by the plane's lack of control, that people are flung down onto broken glass and back into things against the wall. All of that stuff is bearable (because it's so fake), there's only one part that really grossed me out (probably because I had food in my mouth at the time). There's a part where they try to get the venom out of someone's arm (which is bulging and swolen) and they show the closeup of them cutting the wound open. That part was pretty gross. >_> It really depends on how squeamish you are, but I don't think most of it was that bad.

You may want to wait for DVD if you don't really like the gore. It is fake looking, but if you don't really watch horror movies it might still be disturbing. And it's never as bad on a small tv screen as it is in the movies.
I'm not much of a horror person myself, but I did make it through the movie. . Although there were parts that did make me squirm, like the spoiler parts Kugetsu mentioned. Especially the first one. Ugh.

What about the bugs on the windshield?

Sun Aug 27, 2006 6:02 pm

When I went to see it last night, someone brought in a LITTLE KID. :o I mean, this kid was probably 5, 6, maybe 7 years old. Poeple's stupidity amazes me. This kid probably won't be able to go on an airplane EVER AGAIN.

As for my friend and I? Well, we would make comments sometimes. I mean, this isn't an artsy film. You don't need to hear the dialogue perfectly to know what's happening--there are snakes on a plane and people have to deal with them! Yet the only other people in our row, who were at the very other end of the row, would go "SHH!!!!!!!" like it was actually important! Our comments were funny, too! The guys in front of us liked them!

The only line you really need to hear is THE LINE. I think y'all know which line I'm talking about. ;) When that line happened, everyone cheered and applauded.

I also liked how all the passengers played a role in helping the plane to land...well, except for the arrogant British guy, and he had it coming for throwing Mary Kate to the boa constrictor anyway. It was funny to see the boa, still digesting Mr. British Man, fly out the window when Sam Jackson shot it and everything started flying.

I was also expecting there to be an inflatable pilot on the plane, like in "Airplane!", though... Here's a picture of it if you haven't seen the movie, WHICH YOU SHOULD. The inflatable pilot!

Saw it loved it! I was so suprised at how good it was, from the previews it looked really fake and cheesy but it is not how it seems! Go see it. :)

I laughed more at the part shortly afterwards involving the Anaconda. That was such a satisfying way to go.

That was actually a lot of fun. I won't lie, I was closing my eyes for good parts of it. But I did have a lot of fun and I'm really glad we saw it with other people in the audience. The crowd effect pretty much made the whole experiance.

Two people actually got up and left in the middle of the movie. :P

Then after it was over, I almost got to experiance the much more terrifying sequel "Pete Under a Car" because someone didn't realize that when you are parked next to a large crowd of people waiting to cross the street, you probably should wait for them to cross the street. She backed right into him. He's okay though...didn't even fall.
