Oh dear lord yes, that guy is not only lame, he's annoying. I mean, he farts to fly short distances. <_<

*Spits out cola in surprise*

I love Abe, he's comical and caring, yet a total wimp. Love the series, love the stitch marks.

My pick? It would probably have to be 'Croc' - now there's a flat charactor if I ever saw one.

zorg wrote:I disagree with that. A video game character is constructed for the game that they are created for, therefore there should be no need to take the character out. The common ground between the characters in different video games is the whole you know... video game thing. :)

I'm not really going to give this bit much thought, it really doesn't need it. I think you know (or maybe you really don't know) exactly what I was saying, yet you take it and mold it to your own liking. ;) I don't play that way.

If you really didn't know what I was talking about, a little look outside of the box is in store.

zorg wrote:Anyway, before you go and avoid the main parts of what I’m saying in my poorly constructed syntax, you ended up avoiding the lame part of your statement and just saying he's generic. There is nothing lame about the, as you say - "uninspired and generic" qualities of Master Chief, whilst sure that is true, that does not make him a Lame video game character.

Um... actually, being generic and uninspired (among other things) does make something lame. How do you think most of the people on this topic made their choices? I assure you it wasn't because they thought the character was unique, and inspired. From what I can see, most of them have something to do with the character having little (or no) personality or background, having an annoying personality, or not playing their role in the game very well (as well as they could have). I assure you every character mentioned on this thread is guilty of one of those things.

Oh wow, I didn't know that.

Pretending like you didn't know what I meant, how very smooth. Stop the sarcastic inflammatory remarks, please, and discuss, as is the point of this topic (and forums, as you've said yourself).

The Hulk... he is in the Hulk. He is kinda weird because he's like "I'm going to go smash stuff today." And he is huge and green.

As in the silly Cleric/ Mage Winged Elf?
I hate her.
So much.

But I hate Jaheira more.
Atleast Aerie has a half useful Class.

Anyway, none of that makes him lame.

You're still a Halo fanboy? Get over it, please.

This thread is asking, in your opinion, who is the lamest video game character, it's not asking if you agree with those opinions (and believe me, they're not).

This isn't the "Defend your Favourite Character for your Honor" thread, if you don't agree with me, good for you. If you're going to disagree, you could, you know, research something? If you like the game so much, you should easily be able to come up with something better than "He's perfect, you're just wrong." (which is all your posts says). I can't take someone seriously when they state that something is "perfect" or without faults.

Considering many people think he's the best "video game character of all time", there has to be reason other than the fact that he's in a game they like. That's not a reason, that's an excuse.

You should be able to take the character out of the game and be able to find the faults in them, if you can't do that, then you shouldn't be claiming anything to anyone else.

Master Chief is supposed to be an enigma, an unknown. He actually does have a name, though... John is his first name.

Before you bash Halo, you should play all the way through the campaign and multiplayer, and read The Fall of Reach. Just because something is overly popular doesn't mean it's bad. I thought the same thing of the TV show "House," and refused to watch it because I assumed it was like most of those obnoxious, overdramatic, soap-opera like hospital shows. But people in my AP Biology class convinced me to watch it, and I know now that it's popular because it's good, not because it's a fad.

*Leanr all I needed to know from the game*

He's not the best character ever (Not even a contender)
But hes certainly not a contender for lamest either.

I like watching people get up in arms about Halo. It's funny, because I think it's stupid. =D

Tidus from FFX always grates on my nerves. I do not like him one bit, and his voice acting made me want to rip off my ears.

Rinoa from FF8. She really needed to be shot.

Oh God yeah. What is it she says to Squall? "Like me like me like me"? Stupid annoying little tart.

Most of the female characters in Final Fantasy.
"Oh look at me, look at me! I can kick your butt anytime, anywhere!" and then they wilt if the guy doesn't find them just amazing and attractive, which, sadly, they usually do. o_O

:( How you could do such a thing to poor, poor Tails, I do not know

For me, that annoys advisor in Theme Park who always told me my chips could be 77, or something of that affect. Croc too, he was silly, I was given the game for Chirstmas. It was intensely annoying too. Well, considering I was about 9 when I was giving the game.

You've got me there. ;)

I would have to say that the marines within halo are lamer than master chief.

but for the lamest ever? That mayor in Animal Crossing is a decent contender.

Myron in Fallout 2

I think a better argument could be best boss/baddie within a video game.

Er, no. The one in FF7, almost certainly.

...I was unaware that there was more than one Aeris.

Most of the female characters in Final Fantasy.
"Oh look at me, look at me! I can kick your butt anytime, anywhere!" and then they wilt if the guy doesn't find them just amazing and attractive, which, sadly, they usually do.

Hmm, let me go from experience here...

Rosa never pretended to kick smurf in the first place. Rydia I forget.

Terra wilted, but it was because she had this orphanage-manager shtick thrust on her, and she wasn't what you'd call smurf anyway. Celes kicked smurf and wilted, but then again, she was pretty sure she was the only one left on Earth, and wilting is perfectly excusable. Relm kicked smurf and didn't pine, but then, she was ten years old, so it doesn't count.

Aeris somehow managed to kick smurf and pine at the same time (sorry, Josephine). I'm pretty sure Tifa is the very character you had in mind.

never played FF8, but I hear Rinoa is Tifa only worse and minus the Wolverine gear.

Garnet, judging by the advent of her reign, grossly overestimated her ass-kicking potential, and it was duty, not the guy's opinion, that caused the pining, but I'll give you that one. Eiko pined for maybe about five minutes after Zidane rejected her - but she's six, so five minutes is too much. Freya, sadly, I think you're right about, but I worship her anyway. Beatrix considers ass-kicking the ultimate expression of love and is second only to Cyan on my roster of cool Square characters.

So, are the female characters weak? It's up for grabs for most of them. As for me, I tend to focus on the good guys' strengths, so I give them the benefit of the doubt when I can.

...Aaaanyway. The lamest character in RPG history is Ultros. He serves no real story purpose, he has the most moronic dialogue ever, and he can be the very devil to beat and doesn't give you a substantial reward any time thereafter. Plus, he's a big purple octopus who clashes with every setting he shows up in - including the Lete River - and his buddy Chupon robbed me blind in my Coliseum-whoring days.
