Quite simply - the lecturer was making an example of the student.

I know if I was lecturing I'd be annoyed when interupted by a mobile. I don't know how I'd react, although I suppose if I knew I could get away with those kind of tactics without repercussion, then perhaps I would... I just don't know.

The guy could have just shut the phone off and the lecturer wouldn't have bothered too much, I think it was the fact that the guy started having a conversation over the phone - even in hushed tones, in a lecture theatre, it's pretty distracting.

Think about when people have mobiles in the cinema? You pay however much you do for your ticket and get distracted by mobile phones... compare this to the thousands of pounds it costs to fund an eduction in university... then getting distracted by the same phone...

Perhaps thinking about it that way - I'd smash a phone. Especially since it's not just one person it's distracting - it's a class.

Actually, I think what the teacher did was just as distracting, if not more so, than the actual kid on the phone. Imagine if you were in class and that happened. First everyone would be startled, start looking around at each other like "did I just see that?", maybe whispering to each other (if they weren't scared), everyone checking to make sure their phones are off, the kid who's phone was smashed maybe complaining. That would be just as distracting. Probably more so than if the teacher had just told the kid to hang up the call.

However, from this video, we don't get any context. Maybe the teacher told his class that he'd smash the cell phone of anyone who was caught talking. Maybe the kid had done this numerous times before. I personally think this teacher is a little nuts, but I don't know what he's told the class.

Regarding the confiscation thing, it probably says it becomes the property of the school, not the teacher himself. Therefore the teacher just destroyed school property!

So anyway, I've spent since the middle of last year collecting cell phone numbers..... whenever somebody calls mine, ive written down the number. Whenever there was a phone list for a club or something, i wrote down every cell phone number......

And I scared the heck out of everybody in the school one day... and they didnt even know it was me! *yet*... I know of several sources on the internet that will call numbers for you at specific times.... whenever you request it.... and with these pranks, im somewhat living out my older brothers dream so he helped me also, using his phone systems at art college or something, and some of his friends, and basically we called just over 250 kids cell phones in my school right in the middle of 2nd period  And I got it all one tape... from my classroom, anyway. About 7 phones started to RING in the classroom, and at least 5 went on vibrate, and other people found there phones ringing on silent... all over the school they called. It was magnificent! If i can figure out how to upload my vid onto youtube ill post a link... dear god it was priceless..... just wait until they see my NEXT stunt!

You truly are a superhero :roflol:

Ahh I wish something like that would happen in my school :)

My goal was to create a whole bunch of new, never before seen pranks, that ARENT destructive, that are funny to generally EVERYBODY (that doesnt pick on any one group) is cheap,

My goal for this year was to make a series of pranks that were:
a) 7 or 8 pranks, every month or so.
b) Pranks irrevent to eachother, so that there isnt a pattern, and tightened security due to a prank wont effect other pranks.
c) NEW, never before seen, 100% creative
d) NON-Destructive, doesnt destroy any property.
e) Cheap
f) Entertains everybody, not just a particular group or hurts any one group.

You would think that would limit somebody, but im pulling it off. All you have to do is realise that your craziest dreams COULD become reality with some effort.

My next one is going to be even BIGGER. Its during my school's homecoming football game... this year is pretty big, because im president of the student council, and im good at organizing huge events, so everybodys really pepped up for this years homecoming... SO, im working on a GIGANTIC picture, made up of several pieces of paper that i can pass out to the crowd at the football game.

You know when they sometimes have cards in front of you that you can hold up from your seats when theres a touchdown, and it spells out "TOUCHDOWN!" or "WIN!" or something?

Im making one that says "fish"...... it has no significance whatsover, its just supposed to be confusing. On photoshop, i made big bold letters of the word fish, then used a grid method to seperate it into a 30 card by 100 card picture that says the word "fish"... im got people at an art school helping me... it has a picture on the BACK of the cards that shows a fake "overall" picture of what the people THINK they will be making when they hold up the cards, but of course, it will say "fish." I have people on the opponents stands who are going to get a picture... ill post it. Yeah, thats 3000 pieces of paper, but less than half have ink on them, and all you have to do is walk into a room in my school and walk out with a pack of printer paper, nobody stops you. Its like 500 sheets in your hands at time.... and ive got friends who got me some as well so... This could be the greatest prank ever played at my school. Yall just wait n' see.

Oh my. Just oh my.

You are both brilliant AND devious. I half-wish you'd gone to my school, while the rest of me is going "Thank goodness nothing like that ever happened at my school."
