Just a reminder that Neo time went back an hour.

yup i noticed.but this is not the first time.wats the purpose of this?and why is it called daylight savings?

As you might know,the sun goes down earlyer in the winter(at least here in North america)and in the summer it goes down later.So,at the start of summer the clocks go up an hour and at the end of summer they go back.

In summer, certain countries (or states within countries) move the clock forward 1 hour. This gives an "extra" hour of daylight.

In autumn (fall) the clocks get reset to the right time (get turned back 1 hour).

America (and other countries in the season of Autumn) who do daylight saving revert back to normal hours.


In Australia (and other southern lands) who are now in Spring, move forward 1 hour in daylight savings time.

My state doesn't do daylights savings, which puts us 1 hour behind other states. Weird!!

It's related to a variance in the amount of hours of sunlight the northern hemisphere gets across the seasons; one of the main rationales is that we can save energy on streelightning and preserve the sanity of the people who have to wake up early (okay, maybe not the last one).

The idea is that in early spring, when the sun rises about an hour before most people have to wake up, we can move the clocks an hour forward, thereby enabling an "extra" hour of sunlight in the evening, meaning that we can keep the streetlights off for another hour (energy savings). Conversely, in late October, sun often rises an hour after most people get up, so the +1 hour effect introduced in Spring is cancelled, returning us to the situation where people (generally) wake up after daybreak.

wow i did not know abt all these.i live in singapore,thus i do not experience any of the 4 seasons.thks for the info.

And southern hemisphere do it too.


Our logic was not to conserve energy but to enjoy the daylight hours as much as possible - in our most southern state, the sun doesn't set until after 9.00pm in daylight savings time.

This means that when you get home from school/work etc, you have much more daylight time to use.


Our sun varience is quite big in Australia.

In my state it is dark at 5.00pm in winter, and in summer the sun sets just after 7.00pm, so we already have 2 extra hours of daylight without the daylight savings.

It is even more in the uk - varying from half 4 ish to about 9 ish excluding daylight savings.

Perth might get daylight savings this summer! they've finally admitted that it doesnt confuse the cows or fade the curtains! WOO!

The nearer are to the poles the more difference you have between summer and winter - if you live in the north pole its lights all day in summer and dark all day in winter.

Sometimes I wish I didn't live so near the equator. I'm missing out on all the seasons.

And then again, on the brighter side, I'm missing out on the seasons!

I forgot last night. And thus got up an hour before I needed to. Which really sucks.

I forgot about daylight savings too...luckily I woke up and realized it before it was too late...lol...I even have time to spare before I have to go to church...yay!

I awoke at noon today and was all mad because i thought i had wasted half of the day... but i hadn't! It was still 11!

.... So i went back to sleep for another hour.

lol...sounds like something I would do, eh.
