Hey... long time no post =)

Since there's probably going to be a war going on soon, and everyone's going crazy over training and stats and stuff... I'm gonna ask a few essential questions for the welfare of my pet.

Here are his stats.

Health : 72 / 72
Strength : AWESOME (64)
Defence : AWESOME (60)
Move : EXCELLENT (40)
Intelligence : ULTIMATE GENIUS (100)

I'm just wondering about 2 things.

Firstly, I know that Movement doesnt play a big role in Battledome at all. I wanted ask whether I should keep him Movement training up. Is there any hint at all that TNT *might* implement a Movement factor into BD in the future?

Secondly, I just read up some other Battledome tests and guides. What they proclaim is that Defence actually works less effectively than Strength, and something about blocking the same amount of dmg no matter which and what amount of icons. Can anyone clarify this?

Thanks!

Defence has the same boosts as strength. If a weapon blocks 5 earth icons, someone with the 200 defence boost will block more damage using that weapon than someone with the 55 boost will. I wrote a bit more about it in the weapon advice thread, right at the beginning.

Right now movement is only useful when using certain weapons. Nobody has a clue what will happen in the future. :)

Cranberry, thank you for your timely reply.

I understand that you have written an extensive guide on such Neopet stat matters. However, those might be outdated or wrong.

I have found a few battledome sites which tell me that the current limit for defence is actually 150, instead of the original 700...

Can you anyone help me look this up?

That is VERY old info. In the past, BDers thought defence was capped at 150. They were very, very wrong. ;) That's why you see a lot of the older battlepets with a thousand hit points, the 700 strength boost and sub-150 defence -- they thought it wasn't useful, and by the time they learned they were wrong, it was too late to train it up. Defence boosts are the same as strength -- they go to 700. Everything I've written around here recently is quite up to date, I assure you. :)

It depends on what items you use. For instance, winged scarab and sinsis helm are based on iconage and not defense boost. In other words, you block all damage dealt with physical icons regardless of what defense boost you have.

Pretty nifty, especially if you've neglected to train defense.

Yeah, I explained it a little more here and on the first page of the weapon advice thread. :)
