as an aside, until your weapons have 10 icons each or more, its especially foolish to fierce attack or berserk.
as for faeries, the single best abilities for faeries are 3 fire faeries for fiery gaze (at level 6), and several earth faeries for BURROW at level 12. burrow once per battle is a pretty useful skill, for nearly any battler, regardless of talent. just use it once on strong and youll see why.
lastly, dont EVER let your power bar run to 0. there are rare circumstances when its ok, but the game theory to explain how rare those circumstaces are is just not worth it.

Funny thing about Fiery Gaze. Sure it's a freezer that basically costs, like, nothing, but in my past experiences, I've found it HIGHLY unreliable. Sure I'll use it against weak opponents (*cough* Black Elms and Blathering Beeches *cough*) just for the heck of it, but it's not something I use in serious fights. Am I missing something here?

Fiery Gaze and Diamond Dust are EXTREMELY unreliable. The only time you should use them is when you need an important 1-player victory, so you keep entering and withdrawing until it works.

diamond dust is 1/6
and you say that is awful and i say youre right. but lets say you have a black frost cannon too and that is only 1/5
each on their own are sure to miss. both together though, is not such a bad situation. your now having a 1/3 chance to hit, which makes it a little better. if you already have a surefire freeezer, diamond dust/fiery gaze are not the best in 1 player at all.
