I think they should give out items they've already created, not for all of the items, but for a fourth or eighth of all items given out perhaps. One year they gave out Lu Codestones.
I'd always love to see a random 1-out-of-every-1,000-users giveaway of something more expensive. A random Paint Brush, a Draik Egg, a H4000 Helmet, something like that.
But more realistically...I like it when they give out disappearing items like books and food. Clothes and back-to-school items are yech.

Even of something more expensive, I wouldn't like to see things up in the price range of Draik Eggs. Some of us Draik owners would be quite upset if suddenly a few thousand more of us appeared. XD;

I know you didn't mean that exactly =p Maybe a few random of the more 'normal' paintbrushes, like pink, orange, strawberry, skunk, etc, and things that are expensive, but not so much so. Like rarer petpets and such. But then lots of people would go 'omg that's unfair I didn't get anything, just this crappy tshirt!'

You only have to check the Advent Calendar once every day. You'll usually get 2 presents and some neopoints.

On another note, I hope that TNT is looking at this thread for future ideas. I think some of the ideas here are great!

I'm probably the only one, but I'm hoping for furniture. Preferrably not Christmas themed. I really like Neohomes, like in the Neohome spotlight, but I'm too cheap to buy much for mine. Just enough basics to seem cozy for my pets: bed, desk, lamp, rug etc. Advent = cheap. Cheap = good!

I wouldn't complain about (decent) weapons and codestones though.

Clothes/food/plushies/petpets/PBs are pretty much all the same to me... I just sell 'em.

I like to invent items, so maybe they might make something like this.

Grundo Fun Dough- This fun dough toy comes in a grundo shaped container.

Slothy Coffee: Strong, thick, and very hot, just the way Sloth likes it.

Wocky Talkie: You can talk to other pets all around neopia if you have one of these.

Won Tonus: These spicy little vegetarian won tons are shaped like Tonu horns.

Wasabi Christmas Snack mix: Dried peas coated with Wasabi powder and little red rice crackers make an addicting snack for wasabi lovers.
(I really really really want a neopet version of this, because I became addicted to it after trying it. Wasabi is so good.)

Krawk Wok: All the meats and veggies krawks love, stir fried together in a mildly spicey sauce.

Seafoam Candy: This bubbly candy is fun to eat, even underwater.

Seafoam Pudding: A Maraquan treat, this fluffy green stuff looks like seafoam, but tastes very much like pistachio.

Peppermint Candied Apple: A sweet red apple covered in white chocolate with peppermint peices. The stick part is a peppermint stick, so you can eat the whole thing!

Pretzel Candied Apple: A tart green candied apple covered in chocolate. The stick part is actually a big pretzel stick, so you can eat the whole thing!

Leaches and cream: Only the best leaches and finest cream are used, if that makes you feel better.

Macaroni and fleas: Pretend the little black flecks are pepper.

Violet Shake: A new flavor of shake from Illusen, this one is made with candied violets.

Laughing Tombola Man Plushie: We don't know what is so funny, but his laughter is contagious.

Two Front Fangs: If all you want are your two front fangs, this gift might be just what you need.

Spiked Punch Bowl: This punch bowl filled with purple punch has spikes all around the edges.
(This would be a darigan item)

Christmas Watermelon: These were an unexpected harvest this year on Mystery Island, but it is just perfect for those who crave fruits in the winter.

Minty melt and gones: These candies just melt in your mouth.
(I think Mint melt aways are copyrighted, but maybe not. I just love them!)

Pecan Pie: All pie lovers will tell you that Pecan pie is the best pie there is!

Spicy Roasted Pecans: Once you tast them, you can't help reaching for more.

Honey Roasted Pecans: These are so good they are gone before you know it. Better buy extra.

Sweet Potato Pie with whipped cream: I just love sweet potato pie during the holidays. If you are going to have some, be sure to add some whipped cream.

Candied sweet potatoes: Sweet potatoes all baked up with cinnimon, sugar, and butter. The ooey gooey marshmallow topping is the best!

Meat-Filled Pinata: This Pinata is shaped like a leg of ham and filled with lots of meaty treats for your meat loving pet.

Christmas Symol Plushie: It is so cute, look at the little hat.

Feepit earmuffs: Now your pet can have fluffy ears like a feepit.

Last year, I totally LOVED the Calendar animation where Tomos and Nabile are under the mistletoe, Nabile runs off and Tomos almost kisses Sloth I wish I had that animation; does anyone have a link to that? If so, thanks

I only really go to the AC to see the animations, I was really disappointed last year because my computer was on the fritz and I had to use a library computer that had flash animations blocked

I do lurv plushies though. They're so nifty!
