I couldn't stop laughing when I first saw this. Mostly because I think they could have picked anyone besides me, like my dog, and have gotten a better choise.

Saw it at http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=77985 from a link on another forum that I go to.

Seems like the lazy way out if you were to ask me.

Yeah, I was really surprised when I was picked. I haven't been very newsworthy this year at all.

I assume that this honor comes with some sort of trophy and/or cash reward? ;)

Well, of course, they meant "You, but mostly Tested". I'm the ultimate height in newsworthiness.

First of all, YAY!

But, honestly I think TIME Magazine could have chosen someone better than me. But, at least it's good to know, we are better than politicans and the YouTube guys.

Well, I was watching the CNN special where they announced the winner. They picked the social networking sites such as Wikipedia, YouTube, MySpace as the general thing of the year, and then they wanted to put a creative twist on it and said You.

I think it's a nice choice, but I would have picked "The Bad Guys" (all the dictator types that have sort of come out this year) or Bush, Cheny, and Rumsfeld as one.

Teh cover is really cool though! Its got reflective material so you can see yourself on the computer screen.

Oh poo, I wanted to post that :P funny though, I was looking at YouTube when I heard the news, and my mum asked what were those sites they mentioned. I'd never thought I'd been the person of the year.

A lot of thought goes into choosing the person of the year, and although I'm not of fan of them choosing us, or me... or whatever, I wouldn't say they could of done a better job. Those websites are user-content driven, and despite the creators of the websites having a very interesting story (the history of youtube is pretty cool), there's not much otherwise (when compared to some of the other possible Persons of the Year) that they've done which has had an effect globally.

It was the beginning of a whole new way of marketing mass media, through the user, and they expanded on it. It's clever, even if it's not what all of us wanted.

Exactly what Xil said. When choosing the person of the year, they definitely don't do it on a whim. Considering the explosion that is MySpace and YouTube, and the fact that those are pretty much powered completely by the people, if they were going to go along that route, I don't know whom else they could have chosen and still have made a good choice.

And... we pretty much are the YouTube guys. The guys that created the site [I'm sorry to say], don't have nearly as large of an influence on it as the users do. We pretty much made it what it is today, MySpace as well.
