I've done the same thing. I was out with my mate and a friend, and went to say money but it came out nps. Thankfully they weren't paying much attention to me.

I went into a "limited too" store (they stock stuff for pre-teens mostly) to look for plushies and the magazine, but couldn't find what I wanted. Embarassed, I told the cashiers (who are both probably 10 years younger than me) that I was looking for something for my 12 year old niece, and they showed me the right section.

About 10 minutes later, I'm still digging through the bin of plushies to make sure I wasn't missing a rare/really nice one, and one of the cashiers came over to ask me if I was looking for one of the blue Babaa plushies they had over by the counter and without thinking I say, "No thanks, I've already got that one with my Kougra at home." She started laughing and said "You're the third person that's come in and lied about buying these things since I started here! Is Neopets some kind of club or something?"

 (Then of course, I had to explain it was a website...)

Of course, I've always wondered how the other two people she mentioned got caught lying about their neopets addictions!

Well... my boyfriend (now ex) and I used to have arguments over my playing lol.

Now, my mum sees me and my bro playing and she's like *big sigh* (she's moved in with us). But the other night, when I started playing Neoquest I, she was watching over my shoulder then clicked the mouse to attack monsters and was squealing "die! die!" the whole time lol.

I'm also trying to get the faerie bubbles avvie at the mo and the other night I dreamed about aiming the cannon. shooting bubbles and combos

ps. Found out 2/3 weeks ago that my boss's kids (aged 13 and 8) also play Neo... I was showing them game tips and tricks... in an open-plan office! *lol*

Geeky moments, let me think. . .

Recently my computer crashed. We're trying to repair it, but we might have lost our files. I had resumes, coverletter, all kinds of things in there. The FIRST thing that came to mind when I realised I lost everything is that it was going to take me a long time to recompile my list of items I have and plan to have in my neohome.

I have used the sentence: "I was hungry. Now I am not hungry."

I have suggested putting an item in the Safety Deposit Box instead of on the shelf. It got me a confused look from my family. [/quote]

My mom says to my nephew once,"I play Neopets" and he wouldn't believe her.. and she kept telling him it was the truth.. and he goes,"You're my favorite grandma" xD

:) I am glad I am not the only one who has these problems.

* When McD's had neopets as a promotion, I wanted to make sure I got the pets I liked, so I used my kids (both teenagers) as an excuse and pretended I didn't know what the pets where, so could I have a look as I was given a list of what they would like!! :roflol:

I stood at the counter for about 10 minutes sorting through the box of plushies to find the ones I wanted.

* I also turn the computer on as soon as I wake up and do the 'rounds' of Neo and PPT before leaving in the morning. Neo is the last thing to be checked before bed.

* I have rushed home during the plots to make sure I didn't miss anything and have turned down going out to the cinemas with a friend to stay home on Neo.

* I have just bought Premium, so I can get more benefits.

* My children had accounts but 'grew out of Neo' and now they shake their heads at me, when I started yelling out and clapping when I get a really good bargain on the Superwiz.

* I often tell my friends I will Neomail them  and have to quickly cover it up and say Email.

* When I wanted to upgrade my computer, I was asked what games I played and I just couldn't tell the (very handsome, older gentleman) that I played Neopets and I wanted a faster computer to be able to play games/ do plots/ Restock on the site better.

* When anyone phones or comes around and asks what I am doing, I always say - "just on the computer", I never say on Neopets as none of my friends understand.

So true Daze! I've sort of told a couple of my closer friends and they just nod blankly... but they don't know the extent to which I play on Neo! :)

So glad to know I'm not the only one who does that. When people ask why I play, my excuse "I dont help...helps me think" or the ever popular "my escape from reality"

Heh, I used to work at McDonalds as a swing manager, so I ran my own shifts. When the Neopets came out, my best friend and I (who were probably 20, 21 at the time) would sit in the back and go through the "customer satisfaction" box, which had all the toys, and poke holes in the packages to see what colors they were. If we didn't want that color, we just threw it back in the box. The TEENAGERS that worked there thought we were insane.
I had quit by the last time they came out, so I had to wait until I knew the manager was on so they'd let me go through the boxes to find the ones I want :)

Pudding and I have gone to Limited Too in the mall, looking for something for "our little sister Kaitlin." Twice. And neither of us has a little sister. We'd probably go in more often, if we hadn't ascertained that they don't carry the Neopets stuff.

Daze, you are not alone. :) My real life friends would send me to an asylum if I told them that I played on a kiddie site. I chuckle cause they just don't know what they are missing.

Fri Jan 05, 2007 4:24 am

Hahaha...wow, I don't feel quite so alone now being the only one of my friends that still play Neopets.

Yeah, everytime I go online, people ask "What are you doing?" expecting me to answer something typical as in "myspace" or something, but I just say "Stock Market." They peer over to what I'm investing in as I look at charts on NeoDaq.com. Then they'll ask the typical questions of how much I invested and what companies shares I bought, etc etc. I just laugh and tell them, "No, they're for neopoints (not REAL money)!!". They give me a blank stare and remain speechless. In their silence, I proudly input, "hey, at least I'm a millionaire" ;)

Kekekeke. I'm unsure of all of your ages, so perhaps that may explain why my situation is different.

I'm 17 and my friends know I play Neopets and everything and if they don't, they eventually find out, and it's really interesting because their first reactions are to usually go, "Oh my god, I used to play that!" or something along the lines of that and then they'll go back to their account for a day or so (though most of them don't remember their passwords or their birthdays.....). =P Funny story, actually. I was talking to someone I liked about Neopets and didn't really think twice about it (let's be honest here: how many of you would tell someone you liked that you play Neopets? =P) and got the person hooked back into their old account (which was FAR older than mine). =P I get excited, as well, whenever anyone mentions playing Neopets. "You play Neopets too??!?! Oh my god you gotta Neofriend me!" XP Far as I'm concerned, it's a fun way to get other's to reminisce on their childhood. =D

Though with college approaching fast, I might have to tone down my Neopets obsession a little...=Z
