College doesn't stop you, trust me!

Just this past semester I probably didn't spend quite as much time as I should have on my final papers, because I was so focused on Neopets and the plot. Didn't hurt though, I still managed a 4.0 (just found out a few days ago). Neopets is my number one source of procrastination! :)

College (aka university or varsity as we call it in NZ) does stop you... if only because, as ggagahc said, you're too embarassed to admit it to someone you liked :)

But I am working full-time now in an *whispers* accounting firm, and I've been back on Neo pretty much full-time for a year or so now.

I am proud to say I haven't once logged into Neo from my work laptop :P

LOL, actually I've noticed people discreetly checking a neopets window in the campus library. I was too shy to say hello, but I thought it was pretty cool.

neo-geekery... well, our campus blocks neopets (and other "fun" sites, like firendster, myspace, etc.)... I spent a few minutes fiddling with google and firefox just to check the site... then a librarian walks in, freaks and kick me out  I can imagine her going to scream at the university tech staff: "What do you mean you already blocked it?? You didn't! I just saw someone look at it!!"

also, my neopets password (140 bit) is more secure than my email password (64 bit).

I am semi-seriously working on a "taxonomy" of neopets; e.g., the chia and kiko belong to the same family because they can both evolve into fruit/vegetables; lupes & gelerts are related (Canines), etc. etc...

When I took the essay part of the SATs a couple years ago, I managed to get a paragraph about Neopets into it. I dont know how I pulled it off, but I scored really well on that section.

Ive gotten online at 5am many times because I couldnt fall asleep without knowing if anyone had figured out the next step in the plot, or how to get the latest avatar. It was really bad when people were trying to figure out the last three potions for the ToW. I'd stay up testing and keeping all these extensive notes until I literally couldnt keep my eyes open. I never did that much work in all the high school math classes I failed. But I did it for a Neopets plot.

A taxonomy? Sweet, lemme know if you ever need help, lol. We can talk analogous and homologous traits, and make up latin names rofl. Now *that* would be geekery.

College...yeah...that's where I am...well, technically it's a University...anyways...I don't always talk about it openly, but those who know me, know I play...and tease me for it. But I don't care...I play anyways! I heart Neopets! :P

Last summer I was attending Otakon, a huge anime/manga convention in Baltimore, Maryland (shows how geeky I am to begin with ^_^). While I was waiting in line for an autograph from one of my favorite manga authors I spotted someone cosplaying as Sophie the Swamp Witch. It was a spectacular costume, hand-made, all the details down to the smallest stitch on her patches, topped off with a felt mask and the witch's hat. I was amazed! Otakon is a place to see lots of crazy costumes and people, but Neopets was just not something I expected to see. Anyway, she was waiting in line just a little bit ahead of me, but I just couldn't bring myself to approach her in the middle of the huge crowd. I must have stared at her for about 15 minutes before mustering up the courage to say hello. We chatted for a few minutes and traded usenames (which I am emabarrassed to say I lost, though I remember it was one of those recognizeable and well-known usernames). It's too bad I didn't have a camera with me so I could show you guys the costume since it really was wonderfully made.

I have a personal plushie/toy supplier. My mother doesn't grasp what Neopets is, but loves to get me Neopets plushies or toys whenever she spies them.

Limited Too has drawn me in. I went in to get the Plushie Kougra Plushie, and even called first to make sure they were in. The gals in the shop (20 yrs younger than me!) were utterly clueless. I had them check the storeroom, they couldn't find them in there. I was walking out the door when one hollered that someone else had the box, and I ran back in. I've never been so aware of anyone staring at me as I was when I picked through the box to find the ones with the best eyes and the perkiest ears LOL!

Anyone remember the Jamba Juice promotion? I went almost every day, collected all the pins and saved some Tigerfruit flavour packs. I endured the young guy that loved to corner me and talk about how his LITTLE BROTHER played that 'kids game with all the animals'.

I have a Pink Poogle keychain, nobody knows what it is but lots of people think it's cute. Plushie CD cases in my car, in the compartment on top of my dashboard. My Random Contest entries (esp. my handmade Poptart Plushie) sit in my home office, proudly displayed.

I might need just a little help. :roflol:

(I'm 19 btw :P)

I've done that. More than once. Same boyfriend. We're no longer together, and I'm married to someone who doesn't mind that I don't want to watch tv because I'm busy Neopetting.

haha, same situation here. A handful of my friends know I play and most of them are very open minded, but one of them asks me CONSTANTLY if I'm "cured of my addction" yet and I proceed to freak out and tell him that it isn't an addiction, it's a choice and I like it. He doesn't understand :(

You're lucky that your Limited Too has good stuff. I've been in a couple here on the West Coast and I haven't been able to find ANY Neopets Merchandise...of course, I'm too embarassed to ask...

whhattisthiss, people are often saying I'm addicted...and I freak out as well...lol.

I've seen that too, except some people were not as discreet about it. :P I never logged in there myself, due to the high traffic on those computers (a little unsafe, no?).

I used to go to the local stores to buy the plushies until I moved, my mom thought I was nuts.. my excuse:

their cuddly and I dont have to feed them like my online pet -lol-

Sat Jan 06, 2007 9:41 am

I don't have any plushies yet *gasp*
I do have about 3 or 4 of the McDonalds promotion ones, though. My friend sent them to me because I don't usually go to McDonalds. The one time I did, they ran out and I ended up getting Haunted Mansion stuff instead :(
