In grade 8 I knew a boy who pierced the area above his chin and between his lower lip. He said that it didnt hurt, he just felt a POP.
I know 4 girls who pierced their own noses and experienced the same "popping" without any pain.
I know a girl who pierced her own belly button with a safety pin, but the ring was too thin and she did it too close to the surface. One day she accidently ripped it out.
I know a girl that has pierced her own ear 5 times, only once not in the cartiledge. She shoved a giant needle through, then pulled it out and painstakingly shoved a belly button ring through the holes. - THis is the one I video taped and took pictures of. I couldn't bring myself to help as I was scared of hurting her.
Did she rip out the ring or her belly button?

Anywho.
I havn't done anything to myself. But I saw on TV once where a guy gave himself a concrete cast, reinforced with rebar. Which was stupid, since the concrete was corrosive to his skin and was burning his foot/ankle when it set. And they had to break it off. Same guy also 'sewed' up a wound on his side using copper wire.
I had a friend who pierced her lower lip with a safety pin. She was a weirdo. (And not just because she pierced her lower lip with a safety pin)

I saw this thread and was confused at first, because I thought you meant like a heart transplant, liposuction, or an appendicetomy, and I wondered who would be crazy enough to do that. XD
No, I have not given myself a piercing, if that's what you mean. I don't care too much for piercings. I only have my ears pierced and I got them done professionally. I don't mind blood and can take some pain, but I wouldn't want to give myself an infection. Plus, I HATE needles.

Well there was that DIY hysterectomy that just went so wrong.
A friend of a friend pierced her own tongue without anaesthetic or owt.

I know a guy who removed his ingrown toe nail with pliers.
Had a hack at mine back in the day too, ended causing a lot more harm than good ofcourse.

Me too. XD I suppose if a media-influenced girl with an IQ of about seven was desperate enough, she might try liposuction...
No, I've never pierced anything myself. I got my ears pierced the first time in third grade at one of those kiosk thingies in the mall. They were infected pretty much the whole time, and they closed up in fifth grade (and they ate the back of one of my earrings and I had to get it taken out, which hurt more than any piercing.)
I now have two sets of ear piercings. I got them at a doctor's office. Much more reliable. I haven't had any problems with them. In fact, I can wear any metal, shape, or weight I want.
But I've never done anything on myself.

*is reminded of South Park Episode*
*Several South Park Episodes, actually, but mainly the Butters/Liposuction one. And the one where Butters gets the Shuriken in his eye just because I nearly wet myself laughing*

"Butters. Are you having liposuction surgery? Tell me the truth!"
"Yes sir."
"This is unbelievable! How many times have we told you not to have self-performed liposuction surgery in our house?!"
Eek...that would be painful.

Not me (yet), but last night I stumbled across pictures of some guy who decided to remove a tattoo by cutting it out. >_<

I made a valiant attempt to pierce my nose. Hurt like heck and it didn't work.

I was once in a study hall where a girl got her nose pierced. The teacher in charge just asked her not to tell her parents that it happened at school.
Fri Feb 09, 2007 1:12 pm
I never did this and I don't think I will.
And yeah, I've heard some of these stories too.. it's... weird.
Anyway, there's a girl at school, you know an aquaintance of a friend of one of my friends... (XD ) that pierced like 10 spots on herself, without professionals.

That's body modification, not surgery.
A lot of my friends are in to body mods. I'm not, mainly because my parents are anal and I'd like to be able to finish attending college. I'll probably just get one that they can't see.
Anyway, NEVER DO A PIERCING ON YOUR OWN. Someone up there mentioned a person giving themselves a labret: This is a very bad idea. If you do it incorrectly (or even sometimes if the piercer has no idea what they're doing), it can erode your gums. I know someone who had to have gum tissue grafted to the gums on their bottom row of teeth because of erosion caused by a poorly done labret. And NEVER EVER EVER pierce your own tongue. You can really mess yourself up. You can hit nerves or veins and end up in a hospital.
In short, doing your own piercings is a very stupid idea. When you go for a piercing, the professional knows where to place it, makes sure the piercing is straight, gives you disinfectant/cleaning supplies for it, and gives you a sheet of instructions. Lots of people haven't got the first clue on how to take care of a piercing. Many girls who pierce their own ears have no idea why it keeps crusting over and won't stop swelling. You're supposed to clean it out and twist it twice a day to keep it loose.
If you think you're smart enough to pierce yourself, you're not. Go get it done professionally. But if you enjoy staph infections, be my guest.
