Repost from another forum. This is hilarious. I LOL'd.

Quote:
just got finished doing my morning cardio and I had the radio on and heard the funniest thing.

So theres this guy and he comes on and says that in honors of valentines day he wants to do something for his girlfriend. There like okay and he tells them he wants to propose, and the Dj's get all excited ( 2 ladies, 1 guy). He told him the first time he saw her at starbucks and how he rememberd what she orderd hot chocolate or something.

So they play some music and call up the girl. And the guy goes on this thing where hes telling her about the great times they've had. The dj interrupts and asks the girl if she remembers what he ordered and shes like Im sorry no. And the guy gets back on track. And he's like well remember the night I got you those 3 roses, and he tells her what the roses mean. And he goes Im getting down on one knee, and he asks her to marry him.

HER RESPONSE

Chris we've only been dating 2 months

(no one on the radio knew that)

I dont know Im shocked I dont know...Im gonna have to say NO. WE should talk later tonight.

And all you hear is the guy going "what about the night under the bridge" you said you never had a relationship like this and you dont want to be in another relationship.

I nearly fell of the treadmill Im pretty sure I didnt do the story justice but it was funny.

I don't really get it. What was supposed to be so funny about it?

And this is why you don't propose in the public eye. Or public ear. Or public anything.

I do really enjoy this anecdote. My sister's friend kept dating these guys who would propose after a month or so, and that was always her warning signal to extricate herself from the relationship--because someone who proposes after such a short time usually has invested a little too deeply in the relationship, and should the relationship sour, might well turn into a creepy stalker.

I was actually talking to my friend about public proposals on New Year's--I said if anyone proposed to me in a public way, I'd look all happy and a little faint and say, "Oh, sweetheart, honey...no" in the gentlest way possible. Then I'd smile.
Some weird part of me always wonders if the girl(usually it's a girl) says yes because everyone's watching and that's what they want to hear. And if she did say yes without being sure, did she take him aside after the cameras were off and tell him she didn't want to marry him after all? Or did she chicken out and marry him?

Oh man, I shouldn't laugh, but...hee!

Yeowch. Seriously, don't they screen these callers? I've heard radio proposals before, and they usually ask how long they've known each other and other things about the relationship on the air before they call the person being proposed to. I almost wonder if it were staged—that just seems so...basic.

I know a girl who was proposed to very publicly, said yes, and told the guy 30 seconds later that she wanted to break up. I think that happens a lot more than people realize. I've seen a total of 3 embarrassingly public proposals, and only one of the girls looked happy about everything.

Although, I know a guy who says he's going to propose to his girlfriend in front of as many people as possible so she has to say yes. People, this is not a good strategy for love...or anything else.

I really can't blame the girl for saying no. I'd probably do exactly the same thing if I were in her place. Public proposals, to me, are equal to public humiliation- I'd hate to be in the spotlight like that.

Well, at least it would be interesting to see a future boyfriend of mine try to propose while I'm having an anxiety attack and hyperventilating.

Really, that sort of thing would more than likely pressure me into saying yes (which is probably why the guy did it- why do it privately when you can do it in such an embarrassing matter that the girl will likely give in just to get it over with? Sure, I'm being really pessimistic here, but think about it).

can't find the sig from this set, so instead, you get a <3 .
