Agreed. The new one is slightly better, although I still suck.

Anyone else noticed a bug in it though? A few times when I was playing, I ran into a mine - but instead went right over it instead of exploding o.O

No idea how to replicate that bug, but I sent in a bug report just in case.

Hush, you!

I like the new Dubloon Disaster. Before, I could never be bothered to get the avatar because... I couldn't be bothered. No patience. However, as of earlier today, I got it on about my tenth try. The NP ratio does not seem to have changed all that much... it should still be good for anyone makes money from games.

I don't think the NP ratio's changed for the worse, either. I got 900 points and still got 1000 NP, so it's at least 2 NP for every 1 point (which, given the worth of each dubloon, isn't horrible).

I finally got the avatar as well. Woo! :D

I wish I ran into that bug today. The way I kept losing, the stupid mines seemed to explode even when I wasn't touching them. :x

The NP ratio before was 700 for 100 points.

Now the ratio is 125 to 100, and they've multiplied the number of points by 5. That makes it 625 NP for 100 points in the original one, a substantial decrease.

However, I really like this game, especially the water effects. Sucks if your computer is too slow though.

You can turn off the water effects, if you have an older computer. I couldn't find a way to turn off the sound, which bugged me, but hey... I don't expect to play this unless I have to for another gamesmaster challenge or something, anyway. I hated the old one and I hate this one.

Haha, "Just turn your speakers off." I could figure that one out on my own, thanks! I'm almost always listening to music while on my computer, especially when playing games on Neo, so I like to be able to turn off the game sounds.

If you go into game options, you can turn off water effects and sound effects. I tried doing both those things -- the water effects disappeared, but the sound remained. But like I said, I hate the game and I don't care whether you can turn sound off or not, because I have no intention of playing it ever again.

Cranberry, that's really odd! When I turned the sound effects off, the sound stopped completely. I have no idea why it didn't work for you though..

I think the new game is much easier to play, got 11,720 points on my first try. The only thing that I hate is the amount of time it takes to get a good score, it took over 5 hours. Thankfully after a whirlpool you can take a break.

New game available for beta testing!

Lost in Space Fungus - What do you think of it?

I got to level 3 with a score of 124 before I gave up. I think this game is a little on the hard side with a poor payout. The idea for the game is actually kinda cool, it's different from anything I've seen on Neopets so far, but I don't think they give you enough circles, but all those extra lives help out a lot.

Magax Destroyer and Dubloon Distaster. What do you think of them?

I personally liked the old version of Dubloon Distaster better. It had a better pay out, a faster ship and less sensitive mines. I didn't really like Magax Destroyer to begin with, so I didn't really notice too much of a difference.

Since a month or so, there has been a new version (or update) of Dubloon Disaster.

Hereunder is a list of the best changes (ahem...):

* The score has changed. Every dubloon is worth 5 times more which does NOT corelate with the dubloons in Neopia. I don't understand why this was necessary.
* The gameplay has changed making the boat less versatile/flexible/fast (again, I have no idea why this change was necessary, but I'll quit stating that from hereon).
* Although sound can be put completely off or on there is no differentiation between game sound and music hence if you play WC and you are done with your game you may have to listen to 30 minutes of music which you cannot put off unless you completely put the game sound off (or your speakers heh, but then one cannot listen to music).
* Then there is the superb new dark blue background. This is the most brilliant new feature of all. For if there is a new mine it is sometimes (especially near dark blue) hard to observe that new mine. Suddenly, before you are able to react, you're dead! BRILLIANT!!! (Before one assumes I am bad at the game: I have been able to get 2K, 3K at WC w/the old DD; the fact I stopped at such scores was sometimes due to boredom and/or feeling I waste my time.)

These changes were all not announced! My world collapsed!

Now, the old version was perhaps not pretty and several games have been updated. In that regard this version is prettier. But, there certainly are some problems in my opinion. So, except for that part, the new game is a failure in my opinion. I can cope with the new gameplay (I managed to adapt to some of these changes and am able to play WC again; plus, in general, it is more challenging), but some changes are hard to adapt to, such as the crappy background. I wonder, am I allowed to somehow take this out of the game? Or am I forced to enjoy this wonderful new feature? Does anyone else prefer the old DD over the new one? Did you provide TNT with feedback, if so, what did you say?

I can't stand the new one. It's so...slow. Plus, it drives me nuts that I can't "skim" the dubloons. In the old one, if you went really close you got it. Now you have to have it centered, which throws my strategy and timing completely off. And you can't maneuver as well. And you can't see dubloons in the gold part, or mines in the blue part.

I have noticed the occasional fluke of running right through a mine and not perishing, but it's not consistent enough to be useful. Really, it's just bleh. Frankly, I hate it. Before it was an easy 3000/day. Now I'm lucky to have the patience to play one time to 1000.
