And frankly, what the hell point is tact?
"Oh, I know, I'll go throw my life away on whatever stupid idea I have today"

I don't have the time, patience or mindset for tact.

Being tactful is polite, which is the preferred method of behaviour on the forum. She's hardly throwing her life away if she gets a tattoo, and who knows, she could really love it. Thats her choice, thats her life and it's not something you can make judgements on just as we can't make judgements on your life.
And trust me, I know you can be tactful, i've seen it (once or twice, but I know it happens to exist), so saying you don't have the patience or mindset for tact won't get you very far.

Thats the problem with Bi-polar disorder though, I happen to have two very distinct personalities with several inbetween.
Mr Tact doesn't come out very often and rarely for anyone but those nearest and dearest to me.

And yes.
Tattoos can be highly addictive, and to be honest with you, going into anything that will permanently disfigure you (No matter how pretty that butterfly / Dragon / whatever may be, it's disfiguring) is foolish at best.

I'm going to look evil, and agree with Setekh.

Sooooo many oppurtunities can be lost by a tattoo, whether jobs, relational, or otherwise.

Plus, of course, when that cruise ship on your belly becomes a battleship (with real-life "bobbing" in the "water"!) you'll wish you hadn't.

If you place a tattoo well you cannot lose a job through it. And it's discrimination if you do. If it's where it can't be viewed (shoulder, back, upper arm) and can easily be hidden by sleeves or the like, who cares?

I say don't get a tattoo at all. I think it's a waste of skin, time, and money. But everyone has their opinions.

I'd say wait a while. I have nothing against tattoos (I have friends with them), but as they are pretty much permanent and stuck on you forever, you might as well wait a bit until your sure of if you want it, where you want it, and exactly what you want. That's just one design. Who knows if there's an even prettier/cooler one you'll love more out there? Maybe there's someone who can create something custom and perfect just for you?

You have your whole life to get one. When your positive and have no doubts about it, then I'd say go for it.

As Flame said, you have your whole life ahead of you to be certain, and as someone who was 17 not too long ago, I know full well that if you aren't old enough to be recognised by the state you aren't old enough to make a life changing decision.

As someone said to me when I asked this exact question "Don't get a tattoo done on a Monday or Friday. If you don't know why, you aren't ready for one."

Wow, thanks guys for all the advice! Its been really helpful! I've talked about it with some of my friends as well, and I've decided to wait until next month to see if I still want it. I've been trawling the internet too, to look for over designs and I've now got 3 other designs that I really like as well, and i'm gonna do what Twinkle suggested and take them to the tattoo artist and ask her if she can sorta combine them with the things I like about each, and make a whole new tattoo.
I don't get it O_o Why shouldnt you get a tattoo done on a monday or friday?

Glad I could help. A tattoo that is easily covered up rarely "ruins your life". Yeah you may not like it in the future but I always think of it like a mole or birthmark. You can't get rid of it so you might as well tolerate it or even like it.

It bugs me when people are so anti-body modifications when I know a lot of people get mods as a sort of therapy. Fine, it may not be for you but to other people, it may be the right choice to make. I myself have had numerous piercings and tattoos and they all mean a great deal to me and personal in some way or another. No-one has the right to tell someone else what to do or not to do with their own body. The only people who come close to this is the people who love you and surround you most, not strangers off the internet.

Basically, I say, do what you like. It's your body. Just think carefully about getting something on a purely cosmetic basis, you're more likely to regret it. Good luck! If you want anymore advice on tattoos, feel free to PM me.

Unless you are talking about the artist himself? I can see why they would be bad days. No one likes to work on Mondays and may not do the greatest job, and everyone wants to rush through fridays.

Unless you're talking about a spur of the moment tattoo, in that case I can kinda see why, but no one in the world should get a tattoo on the spur of the moment. I have a friend that did that and she does regret it. If you can walk into a tattoo parlor and they can tattoo you on the spot...run away!

BTW both my tattoos were done on Saturdays, with a month or two between booking and tattooing.

I also suggest really thinking about the artist doing the tattooing, make sure they have a portfolio so you can see how good their work is. Adn it's good if you know someone who has had tattoos done by this person and can see the results first hand. Thats how I found my guy.

One of my tattoos is on the inside of my wrist and I wouldn't change it for the world. However as much as I love the one on my shoulder, I wish it was in a different place. Not because it's hard to cover, (I love showing my tattoos and actually buy my summer clothes around it) but because I think it would look better somewhere else.
