I'm not sure if this is the right place, but I was having some trouble attaching my petpetpet, but I have a new strategy which helped me attach it in less than 5 minutes!

First of all, you need firefox. Then, you simply go to your inventory and middle click "your items" as many times as you can. Then simply choose the "close other tabs" button, this will allow you to "refresh" hundreds of times in the space of time when you could only refresh 10 or 20 times, allowing you to attach your petpetpet much faster.

I know this is technically legal, since it is you who is doing the clicking, but refreshing this fast might set off some red flags for TNT. If you do this, do it at your own risk.

TNT has already stated that's against the rules. If you're not using your own finger for each of those clicks, you're using an 'unfair advantage'. Check the T&C, news, and editorial.

Nah, I side with theonlysaneone, that is technically (borderline) legal. After all, it *is* using our own finger to open the tabs....
Closing the tabs is not exactly auto-refreshing, and it does not affect the outcome anyway....it just makes getting rid of the mess easier, which could be achieved in various ways.

Its borderline cheating, and definitely not something approved by PinkPT. I'd highly suggest you submit a question to the Editorial asking whether this is allowed or not.

I doubt it'll be allowed, but there's no real way of telling for sure if its against the rules or not.

In firefox it also gives you the option to refresh just one tab {page}

It seems so borderline that I wouldn't try it until you get TNT approval. They can detect how often you refresh, so that might trigger something. Just be aware that it may not be allowed and you may be warned or frozen if it really isn't allowed.

I did this to get the Snow Beast as a challenger--I opened about fifty pages at a time, but I waited at least a second(usually two or three) between each click. This put me about on level with a non-dialup connection, and I closed each page separately so I could see if I'd gotten the challenge yet. I wouldn't have done it if I hadn't been frustrated, because I'd been trying for hours to get the Snow Beast, and my computer was taking up to a full minute just to load the Advent Calendar page.
If you're going to do this, at least wait a full second between clicks. I won't guarantee that it won't get you frozen, but it's less likely to set off alarms at TNT than clicking madly.

This doesn't seem borderline to me at all. What's the difference between this and F5 other than storing the result of the pageload for later reference?

From the Editorial Issue: 219 | 9th day of Celebrating, Y7 :

Some people say that you can get frozen from refreshing to much. For example some avatars people say you can only get from refreshing and they say that you can get frozen from refreshing to much. Is that true? ~ x_tammeh
Just like many things in Neopets and life, there is a line. Let's clarify.

- Hitting refresh repeatedly for a few minutes, allowing the page to load. – Great

- Holding down F5 for 10-30 seconds at a time, checking for the avatar/challenger, then trying again if it has not been achieved – Still good.

- Holding down the F5 key for 20 minutes – Okay, but try to take a break for your mental sake and ours.

- Leaving your "cat" on the F5 key while you make a sandwich. – Not good.

- Leaving your "cat" on the F5 key all night while you sleep – Bad.

- Using a program that refreshes for you at the same rate as a human – Frozen!

- Using Opera to open 100+ pages and hitting "refresh all" – VERY frozen.
Basically, anything that plays the site for you, and requires no effort on your part, is considered a "bot" and will get you frozen. Even your "cat." This includes auto refresher functions in browsers, or putting a weight on F5 to do things the old fashioned way. If you don't do any of that, you don't have to worry.

I don't know if that helps or not!

Err... cat? o_O

I refresh all the time for the game graveyard avatar and to get challenged by Commander Garoo for DoN. I just hold down f5 while watching tv. Never been frozen, but never gotten whatever I was refreshing for either >_< I think there's like... something wrong with my account. Seriously, it's been years, TNT.

I don't think I've ever held it down for 20+ min though...

According to the rules, this is perfectly legal. When you do this, you ARE MAKING EVERY SINGLE CLICK. However, instead of having to wait for each refresh to load, it just opens it in a new tab and you can go a lot faster. The controversy here is whether TNT will mistake it for a program refreshing too fast.

The first post isn't very clear, I think that's the main reason why there is so much confusion about it.

Opening pages in a new tab through the 'middle click' option is allowed, since you use an individual click to open them. It's no different from holding down the F5 button for a short period of time.

'Closing all tabs' is no problem either, there's never been any mention at all about having to close each window individually, and I don't see how that would give anybody any advantage in the game itself.

There is however another option (which has not been mentioned here explicitely), which is 'Reload/Refresh all tabs', meaning refreshing all opened tabs at once. And that is 'VERY frozen', as stated in TNT's editorial. I think some people's replies were referring to this option, although it took me a while to figure it out..
