Everyone is either too idiotic or apathetic to worry, we've seen it all already and nothing phases us anymore.

That was rude and uncalled for Setekh. If you have something unpleasent to say about other members of the forum then take it off the site. Nobody wants to hear your opinions about who is and who is not an idiot, especially on a thread about something as tragic as this. Please show more respect to our members.

I fail to see the bit where I called anyone an idiot, I would have thought that by now when I see "Round here" I mean reality, or atleast the bits of it I see from my cloud of unpleasantness.
In all honesty, I was not implying anyone here was an idiot, merely that the general consensus of my nation as I have experienced it is one of apathy and disassociation.

Well then I apologise, as you posted on the forum and said around here, I interpreted that to mean you were referring to the people around the forum.

No, no, my fault, I am far from specific with my meanings, I just tend to assume people now what I'm blithering about.

It looks like once again the treasured right of every american to bear arms has come up trumps again, and showed the rest of the world just how beneficial lax firearms laws can be. USA! USA!

Oh wait.

Gun Crime is prelevant in the UK aswell, and we have rather strict laws.
So... Err..

No. Gun crime is NOT prevelant in the UK. Yes, criminals can, if they know the right people, get a gun. That's the same in every country. The fact is, if gun crime was prevelant in the Uk, there would be 16.6 shootings a day, which there are not.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Middle class white teenager sees ROSS KEMP ON THE GANGS OF SOUTH LONDON and is under the impression that you shouldnt look at a black guy the wrong way because he probably has a gun since gun crime is so prevelant o_O??

In the USA, if I wanted, I could quite easily get a gun from a shop or a friends dad's house and shoot you and everyone in your class because you are a smarmy git. Or for sleeping with my wife. Or for being skinny. In the UK, you just can't do that. Fact.

Easy access to guns allows any quack who feels the need to commit murder to do so on large scales.

Not many teenagers can afford to buy guns here, I'm assuming because they're illegal to have they're being sold at high prices. Gun crime might happen in England but I'm pretty sure it doesn't happen as often as a stabbing.

Gun Crime isn't particularly prevalent in the UK. Knife crime is a bigger issue- though you can't be really clear on it, knife crime runs at 3 or 4 times gun crime.

Neither are very widespread though, they're very, very localised in certain areas.

If even one of the students in the engineering hall had had a gun, this would have turned out VERY differently. Criminals who want guns and have nothing to lose can get them easily, legal or not. It's the people who use them for protection or recreation, which is a lot of people here, who are hurt by extremely strict gun laws.

So... debating gun laws and stuff, goes in debate, as has been mentioned before... so yeah. Keep debate in debate. Start one up in the debate board, it's been terribly quiet lately.

This thread is mainly for discusison of the events of the Virginia Tech Shooting.

Although it is incredibly sad for the family's of the victims, it must be equally difficult for the family of Cho Seung-hui. They not only lost a son, but their son actually comitted this atrocity in a location where they couldn't reach him.

Inrun, the Debate board is where threads seem to go to die. Unless the debate is on homosexuality, the thread tends to die in a short time.

It seems to be a problem with the Debate board in general, but it doesn't mean that there should be an exception in this case. It does go beyond what the topic is about and especially that being a sensitive topic.

This will be the end of it on this board unless you want to get this thread locked.

I didn't say it shouldn't go to the debate board, I was merely pointing out that the Debate board is a hive of inactivity.

Edit: Debate board, not bvoard. The Debating Bvoard was outlawed in the 1600s.
