I'm afraid of what would happen if they "upgraded" the battledome. I'd rather they just make it run faster, keep making new and interesting weapons, and leave the basic BD alone.

I don't like this whole pet customization thing (my pets are animals and do not wear clothes), but as long as it's entirely optional (that is, these redraws don't replace my pets' current poses), I don't really care.

I have to put in my two nerdy cents.

I love the ability to mix and match items from different paint brushes. In particular my shoyru is wearing half they royal boy's set and half the royal girls and looks much better.

I also liked accessorising my glowing green gellert with a few select island items (the leaf necklace and flower in her hair) as well as with an earring without actualy having to dress her in that outfit. It looks very similar to the strawberry gellert posted earlier and works in about the same way. Easily my favorite.

If this ends up being a way where we can layer one color over another It could have some interesting effects.

On the other hand my poogle looks like a thriftshop threw up on her so it's sort of a mixed bag. But I can see myself realy enjoying the ability to, say, make a marquan pet queen of the see, or pirate queen of sea, or maybe robot queen of the sea (i think i too that one too far).

Yeah, sooooo not liking that pet of mine in particular. It turned out ...weird. The artistic balance is all off.

After a tiny bit of playing around I'd had my fun, and realized this is not a service I'd be interested in paying for and wasn't interested in helping them find bugs. It's cute, but has very limited appeal to someone like me. I'm guessing it's aimed more at preteens?

I am afraid that in the future if you abandon a pet into the pound, that someone can come along and strip it down to nothing, basically ripping it to shreds and then repounding it all naked with nothing. It is really morbid to think that someone could come along and just rip the wings off or part of the hair or flowers or whatever comes with the pet. I hope they do not allow this to happen! I hope sibling pets may be able to share clothing or something, but I hope there is no option to actually let people sale a peice of their pet! Because if that happens then that is what is going to happen to the poor pound pets. They'll look like nasty blobby things because people will pull everything off of them that can be ripped off, then they will be able to make a profit just from stripping poor pound pets. If any staff are reading this, please consider this!

Well, that was fun. I was a wee bit unoriginal with my Aisha, clueless with what to do to my lab rat, mad that all I could give my Draik was a background, but I had a little fun making my Kougra royal. =P I was disappointed that I couldn't give my Aisha a desert background to match her look, but the rest of my 3 pets did have it as an option. Grr.
As for the redraws... yikes. Kougra fuzzy toes, flat Aisha with huge eyes, and freaky t-rex arms for the Draik. I hope I can just choose to keep their pictures as is. Won't say this wasn't a bit fun though.

WHOA.....what is up with some of the robot pets? Can you strip off their metal or something? They look awesome that way!

I don't think we need to worry about them "ruining" our pets as long as they're not abandoning the standard images as well. The only reason some of them have been dramatically redrawn is so they can wear the same clothes. Surely they'll still just be optional.

I'd really like to see how some more mutants look. I LOVE the mutant gnorbu and blumaroo, how are the koi and tuskaninny?

Dayam! I like the look of Robot Pets without some of their casing. Unfortunately, I had no other cool stuff to put on the body (except a scattering of Lost Desert and Pirate stuff), but still...

Everyone keeps telling me that the deluxe paint brush sets will disappear after the beta. No they wont disappear. Here is why. Say you have an island techo and you don't like the grass skirt. Well you'd want to take this off. It would have to be an item for you to be able to take it off. Now say you thought you'd never really use this at all, you'd want to sell it. I think that is a bad idea.



These items will only be aquired by buying a paint brush, I believe. For example, I really like how the halloween krawk's face mask looks on my Darigan krawk, however, I don't really want it that bad! For me to aquire this item, someone would have had to strip this off their halloween krawk and sale it. Maybe they'd find another mask they wanted their krawk to wear, or some sunglasses, but still, selling this mask is a bad idea.

If pets can be stripped of their deluxe paint brush items, and these items can be sold, then what is to stop people from adopting badly named painted pets from the pound and just basically stripping them of everything?


These deluxe items have to exist after the beta, or else no one would be able to take the clothing off of their pets to customize them. And it should be an option to take the clothing off of a painted pet. I have no problem with them being able to remove these items. I don't even care if they take the clothing off of one pet and put it on another pet in the same account. Siblings of the same species can share clothing. I don't think that is wrong.


But I don't like the idea of being able to sale it. There are a lot of problems with this. It makes geting a painted looking pet too easy. It also gives pound squatters a good reason to adopt pets and just strip them. There could be a lot of money in that. But I think neopets should stop this from happening before it ever happens.

Why are you so stuck on the idea that paintbrush items will be sellable? Maybe when you paint your pet the clothing will become an option but not something that shows up in your actual inventory. Why don't you wait and see how it plays out before you start saying what a bad idea it is?

I think that you are taking the whole thing way too seriously.

This assumes that these items will be returned to the regular inventory. The one way to prevent this is make it so that it's impossible for items to return to your inventory.

Yeah, I think the items should be removed from teh image, but stay in the item inventory, and not your 'real' inventory

Anyone else have pets they can not customize? On my account and side account I can not customize:

A yellow lutari (TanCoul)
A blue korbat (FlappyBatBat)

Just curious about customization. Do accounts / pets need to be a certain age? My side account is only a month old (ditto for Flappy). TanCoul is only 105 days old. Are certain pets not finished in the customization window? I know they have lutari art... so all I can think of is the age of my pet.

Exactly. Paintbrush accessories won't be sellable. Having a pet with that color will simply put them in your pool of wearable items automatically.


Anyway, I think it's time people realize that it doesn't matter how a neopet is drawn anymore. They are redrawn EVERYWHERE. There's no single defining pose or attitude for them...all that matters is the base concept. The darigan grarrl, for instance, is always a darigan grarrl. It just had to be drawn a little simpler to wear accessories. Is that really such a big deal? It's just one pose.


That said, I am OVERJOYED with the execution of mutants. Every single one of them looks fantastic, except the ones that blew chunks to begin with like the mutant grarrl and zafara. Favorites:
